Sledge Hammers!

i'd given it a good beatin with the old cross peen, then moved to my persuader, a 5 pounder with a tiny face, eventually that didnt work and i started swinging my striker's sledge, 10 pound council, and then i gave up and got an allen wrench to make into a knife, never made much of a dent in the spike

A hammer I have always taken for granted...

Love the balance and handle though

Imo the best feel in a handles is octagonal.

Mine too...working my way to just that shape.
For now, I am having a great time learning and trying...fumbling along the way.
I had high hopes of an octagon for the hammer ⚒ but I am happy to have made a solid hang for now. I needed the hammer on a handle so it's perfect for now

Incredible creativity and initiative on the harbor freight Hudson Bay head by the way
How did you cut to shape it? What did you use?

An angle grinder with a cutting disk, some files, and water to keep it cool.
