i'd given it a good beatin with the old cross peen, then moved to my persuader, a 5 pounder with a tiny face, eventually that didnt work and i started swinging my striker's sledge, 10 pound council, and then i gave up and got an allen wrench to make into a knife, never made much of a dent in the spike

little one has a cool shape it's three pieces can't see a mark,big one is a 3 lb power kraft 6 bucks this morning

Nice hammer, but why do you flatten the sides on all of your handles ?

I like how it feels in my hands...I get a better grip.

This handle didn't turn out so well. Not as I had expected.

I am at the beginning of the learning curve LOL

Imo the best feel in a handles is octagonal.

Mine too...working my way to just that shape.
For now, I am having a great time learning and trying...fumbling along the way.
I had high hopes of an octagon for the hammer ⚒ but I am happy to have made a solid hang for now. I needed the hammer on a handle so it's perfect for now

An angle grinder with a cutting disk, some files, and water to keep it cool.

It's turned out great, and a great project to do and have fun with I am sure.

I did this yesterday, a 5lb Warwood head on a very nice 18" House Handle. The issues with their axe handles are well documented, but I have had very good luck with their hammer handles.

I don't care for this style hammer with the light cross peen and heavy hammer. They feel poorly balanced to me. Give me a Hofi style cross peen.
