But this saw hammer is so cool!
It looks like it must be the original handle. There is a 1 1/2 stamp on the bottom.

Upon carefully inspecting this cool saw hammer I realized it has, although scarcely visible, the same Simonds etching as Agent_H Agent_H dog head hammer.

The head was on upside down so I rehung it and fed her some BLO.
I was going to put a round wedge into it but decided to hold off for fear it would split the handle. Besides, it’s not like I’m going to start hitting things with it.

The handle has well defined contouring from use and both faces are in real nice shape.

The three marked with P6 and P7 seem to be registered to Prairie Wood Products, Prairie City, Or.

The guy who sold them to me said they were from the Warm Spring Reservation. The reservation is relatively nearby and I envision that one of a few different possibilities...

The P6-7 stamps are still active as far as I can tell…

The other has the same “ROC” (Curved underline) but is marked “WF”.

I agree with G garry3 , these markers and stamps and hammer or axes they used for them, what a great tool to collect, save and share. I hope you can rescue more.

I doubt I will come across any here in the wild...but to quote Sean Connery..."Never Say Never"

Here are a few I rehung this week
