Greetings! Looking for suggestions on a small fixed blade (2”-4” blade). Preferably with a horizontal waist carry sheath. Looking at the Esee izula 2, as well as the Bradford guardian 3 and 3.5. Although something from bark river is definitely an option.
Thanks!

Budget?

Might also want to consider Becker BK11 or BK14, which can be carried horizontal, and have nice scales available (BK11 has Kabar Micarta and BK14 has TKC G10 scales) that really make them shine.

For a smaller, general purpose fixed blade, the Bradford G3 is about the best I've found. I've used BRKTs, ESEE's, Beckers, Fiddlebacks, and a few others I can't remember, but the Bradford seems to have hit the mark of being an outstanding all-rounder better than any of the others for me.

Hard to beat the little White River Backpacker Pro with it's 3" blade for general use in the field. It is currently the knife I carry when I don't expect to really need a knife in the woods except in emergencies along with a folder. The folder gets most of the use.

A lot of folks here like the various Bradford Guardians. LionSteel makes some good general woods knives too.

There are some killer small custom blades being posted in the makers market that are about the same or less than some of the knives posted. The Eastern European makers are posting some very nice, well priced fixed blades in particular. Check out Daado and Tony Mont. --KV

Since the fallkniven F1 is a tad bigger than what you are looking for... how about the sligthly smaller H1?

Thanks, I guess I need to spend some time and browse those forums.

A. G. Russell Woodswalker. No horizontal waist carry sheath, but a useful looking little piece...agprs.jpg

For a smaller carry, I use a Fallkniven Kolt, occasionally a Lionsteel M1, and I have a bit larger custom on the way that I have yet to try out.

It depends on what sort of things you want to use it for...and whether you're leaning more toward the 2-3" range or 3-4" range.
The 2-3" range, for me, is a pretty small group (pun not intended). Brush Creek Rabbit Foot, LT Wright Patriot, BRKT Mini Fox River, and Dozier Modified Personal. The 3-4" range, in comparison, is significantly larger

If it’d be more woods than EDC, a Tops MSK/Trekker would fill that role very well. Only issue you’d have is one sheath is your standard leather belt sheath, the other is a neck-carry kydex. Though, I do prefer my MSK to my Guardian 3 in the forest, and my G3 for EDC.

My MSK picture that I swear I’ve used 50 different times, haha.

I included in the pic an old AG Russell knife, just because. It's long since discontinued; so there's not really much point in mentioning it.

Not shown in order originally listed... from top to bottom: Dozier, AG Russell, Brush Creek, BRKT, LT Wright

I like the Dozier Personal too. It is the last Dozier I have purchased. (Edit: The last one was the 3" Companion. Have the Personal too.) Very handy knife and could be easily carried as an edc with the excellent Dozier horizontal kydex sheath.

Find the one that is most comfortable to use. There all great knives being suggested. Last thing you want is to be using for an extended period of time and it be a pain to use. Custom sheaths can be made to fit your carry style afterwords.
