Hello,

Hope y’all doing well!!! I want to try small, or even very small fixed blade knife as an EDC. Currently I have two candidates, LT Wright Patriot and Bark River Micro Bravo in Elmax.
I was wondering what do you guys think about these two knives? What is the deal with convex grind on Bark River Micro Bravo??? What can you tell me about A2 steel, sharpening, care? Lastly, maybe you can recommend other knives similar in dimensions with Patriot or Micro Bravo?? Thank
You!!!!

I'm not familiar with the knives you mentioned so I cant help you there. But It would be worth your time to check out the knife makers for sale area here on the forum. I've seen some very nice EDC fixed blades there. Plus the makers could tell you anything you would ever want to know about there knives.

Custom makers here are a great resource. Often small knives will go for prices similar to production knives. Make sure to browse the knifemakers market.

For production knives, I have a couple small knives I carry in a back pocket for short walks in the woods: the Lionsteel M1 and the Fallkniven Kolt. Neither are quite small enough for front pocket carry, unless your front pockets are huge. But they are a great size for what I need. I can recommend both highly.

And you can learn to sharpen convex edges, v-edges, whatever. Just study up and practice. You can make any grind work for you.

Let me list 4 knives that are great little fixed edcs:

Spyderco Street Beat; my all time favourite little edc fixed. So comfortable to carry you forget you are wearing it. A very versatile knife, cannot recommend it enough.

Bradford Guardian 3: another great littled fixed that tons of people love and for good reason.

Spartan Enyo: Even smaller than the last two. I really love this knife.

Brous Silent Soldier; technically a neck knife but you can wear it on your waist. Has an extremely comfortable handle for its tiny size. The Silent Soldier Ranger is my favourite as it gives you the most edge.

Also please google knife static cord carry. It is the lowest profile and most comfortable way to carry a little fixed blade imho.

The Patriot is a really nice little knife. If the law would allow me to EDC it I would probably never bother with anything else.

That is an ideal knife. I am absolutely in love with Perrin’s design sense when it comes to handles.

What is the name of this version with g10 handles?
Le Bowie #652

SOG Snarl - 9Cr18MoV (Highly underrated steel I think, can be worn as neck knife or on belt or waist band, very versatile.)
Cold Steel Secret Edge - AUS-8 (Cold Steel nails the heat treat on this steel.)
Sanrenmu 7130 or S611 or S625 (I can't say enough how amazingly well Sanrenmu nails their heat treats. How sharp they come and long they stay so. Think these are all 8Cr13MoV or there abouts.)

The sheath or carry system is the key to enjoying small fixed blades IMO. A small convertible kydex or leather sheath is where it's at - something that can be worn horizontal on the belt, vertical on the belt or in the pocket will cover all bases. At the very least I'd shoot for two of those three.

Personally I'd start small and cheap - a CRKT minimalist or Esee candiru and see just how much blade you actually need. It might surprise you.

Thank you guys for your help!!! I really appreciate all information that you provided!!! After checking out some of those incredible knives that you mentioned my choice is even harder now :)
From just two knives I am now close to a dozen of awesome EDC options!!!

The Patriot is really nice little knife. If it suits you I say go for it. Among other things there, you're just not likely to meet a better human being than LT, he is just an all around great guy. I want a Patriot myself.
