I was at a knife store the other day and happened to glance upon a small...I'd say maybe 2.5 inch blade G10 lockback folder. I didn't recognize the knife from anywhere, but it looked exactly as a Spyderco should--it really was a Spyderco style knife (obviously including the Spyderhole). I didn't handle it myself, though my girlfriend did. I figured it must be a brand new model or some old discontinued one, though I did notice that when the guy placed it back in the case, he set it on a red box-I thought he must just have it on the wrong box...I looked at the box to see if it said Benchmade on it, but alas, as I recall, it was blank (red) on the sides.

It didn't catch up to me until an hour ago, but now I can't stop wondering what it was. Any ideas? Are there any knives of great similarity to it? I might buy one similar to it...I think I might have a place for it, a smaller simpler tactical....

Of course....totally forgot about that one....that's probably it....how much is one of those worth, rough estimate?

If it looked like a mini-Police, with the clip on the butt end, it's a Rookie. If it looked like a Delica, with the clip on the pivot end, it's a Standard. Both discontinued, both valuable to collectors and great knives. I have one of each :D

I don't know that much, but would the mouse fit the specs? I don't know if it was made in G-10 or not

From what I can tell, the Rookie is a fairly large knife....this one was smaller than a delica. In total length anyway.

is this it?

I think that might be it...I'll try and go back tomorrow, but it's a bit of a drive....how much is one of those worth?

Not that much... I think the last one I saw sold for about 50 bucks LNIB. I wouldn't mind a run in VG-10 and G-10 though....

If it has a straight blade about 2.5+" long with a drop point, then it might be a G-10 scale C-19 Terzuola Jr. That is a very, very rare one thedse days.

I don't believe it's a terzuola, as I think the terzuola doesn't have a lockback model, but I really have never seen one, so I can't say much on it.

It's fully serrated, which is a big turnoff for me...on tiny knives, simply for looks reasons, I only like straight edge. The one in the store, that is.

Maybe it's the Navigator...it doesn't quite fit for me, the end of the handle...I thought it had a simpler shape than it...but I didn't pay that much attention in the store, so I'll just have to go back and check.

On the subject, what about knives from other companies that fit the bill? Small (2-2.5 inches), G10 handles and lockback? Something really simple.

lookin back in my records, the knife i pictured above was picked up as an experimental model. i thought it was pretty cool, using G10 with no liners, and paid $50 for it. no box or papers at the time. the Spyderco nomanclature has this as a SPX02SA model. it has GIN-1 steel and G10 scales - no liners. a simple light weight folder that i carried in my vest carrier while at work. i have since retired the SPX02SA, but it worked well when i used it. this was back in 1999-ish??? i'm not sure when i bought it, but it was after 1997 and before 2000.

hope this helps :)
