Here is a special one Jim built for me from some tortoise shell material that was gifted to me from a makers stash. Jim also used gold foil, use of both was a first for him. I think it came out well.

No its not an illusion, the customer asked for the nail nick to be on this side.
I emailed him and checked a few times before i put it together, as it was a unusual request!

That's gorgeous! Am I seeing some damaskeening on the interior of the liners?

At 3 1/2" and 3 5/8" these knives might best be described as small-ish. Small is relative of course.
