been looking a the Rocketpak or the bigger bergan, any one have any experiances with either of the packs? looking for a larger pack for camping/backpacking with my wife. id be carrying most the gear and thats the reason why id like the bigger pack.

I have the Snugpak Sleeka 35.....I can tell you that they are very well made, lightweight(compared to max/kifaru) and comfy. I like the Sleeka so much, im considering getting a Rocketpack as well. Snugpak makes nice stuff.

Snugpac has a waist belt.
If you want the weight on your hips, and carrying for two, you do.
Look elsewhere.
There is an outfit in GB called RVOPS that ships to the US. They have the Lowe Alpine military line up as well as the Berghaus Vulcan, that is the highest rated rucksack made.

Hmm...My Sleeka sits right on the hips. Could be a height thing, or just the size of the pack as its a bit smaller then the rocket.. Are you sayin the Rocket carries too low or high?

I quite like the look of the little Sleeka. It's one of the ones on my shortlist for when my North Face eventually caves in. They feel well made, simple and light, which is all I'm after really in a bag about this size. As Toucan Oasis said though, that's a waist belt which differs from a hip belt. It's for stability rather than effectively transmitting heavy loads to your hips. Whilst the bigger packs are probably as well made if I wanted to carry load I'd be looking for something very different.

My rocket has treated my pretty well over the years, I recommend it! The pack is intended to ride a bit higher to allow access to your belt kit.
I mainly use it sans the pods and tuck the top pocket in the body of the pack and cinch it up with dual cord locks. With out the pods and tucking the top pocket it carries like a day pack but has mega capacity when you need it. With the addition of the harness it allows you to zip the 2 pods together to make a nice little day pack.http://www.vtarmynavy.com/snugpak-yoke-system.htm

I also recommend any of their insulating jackets as softie is light and VERY warm.

Take into account how much you will carry. Majority of the weight will be on your shoulders when wearing a snugpack.

I purchased a sleeka 35. Torso length is short. My pack torso length is 19.5 inches. When I put it on the sleeka the waist belt rode on top of my belly button. Not very comfortable. Since then I have decided to stay away from snugpak packs. I plan on putting that pack up for sale on fleabay.
