I'm this close > < to pulling the trigger on buying one. Seems like it would be a nice size to carry at 3 5/8" long closed, and weighing in at 2.0 oz. Looks like it's a pretty slim knife, too.

I've mostly been carrying a Buck 55, which is just a little smaller than a Mini CopperLock. I like everything about the 55 except the placement of the lock release - way back "on the end of the handle" (help me out here - "end of the handle" - my knowledge of knife terminology is lacking ). Anyway, looks like the Mini has the lock release more in the middle of the handle, which I'm thinking would make it easier to release without repositioning the knife in my hand. Kinda just slide my thumb down, push, and close the blade against my pants leg. With the 55, in order to close it one-handed, I have to reposition it in order for my thumb to reach the lock release - and even then it's kind of awkward. Hoping the Mini would feel more natural closing one-handed.

Am I thinking right? Should I pull that trigger?

Its a nice knife. Carries well. The part that I don't care for is the copper head part, i.e. the bolster that stick out a bit to cover the tang when the blade is open. However, the copper head part makes the knife harder to choke up on.

Otherwise, the knife is really classy.

God Bless

I really like mine. Very thin and at 2oz you hardly know its in pocket.
It's also smoother than I thought it would be, and I like the mid lock.
I do recommend the CV if you can find one at a fair price.

It's a great knife. It was my main edc knife for several years. At the time I wasn't really into one-hand opening knives and mainly carried traditionals. My small collection consisted of a couple Case Trappers, a Buck 703, a Eisenhower, Old Timer, Browning, and maybe a few others. What made the mini-Copperlock the ideal edc for me was the fact that it was thin and carried very well in suit pants. Also the clip blade was big enough to handle most any task I asked of it and was still great for more mundane uses such as fingernail maintenance. The mid-lock was another great bonus, and I agree w/ you that it is much easier to access than the end-lock.

Here are a few pictures of my Case CV mini-Copperlock.

Thanks for the replies so far, guys! You have now raised the bar to a new level - I didn't realize these came in CV!!! I WILL be buying one! I am PUMPED :D. I'm assuming the CV is no longer in production, and that I'll have to find a used one. Correct? I'm guessing I'd be in competition with everyone here for a used CV, but does anyone have any suggestions where to look? Thanks!

I've not seen any new ones in CV offered lately, but I'd recommend looking for a used one. It takes and holds a great edge.

They come up new on the bay quite often, but they are pricey on there.

We have alot of flea markets around here with Case dealers at all of them. My friend got me mine, and him one for about what one will go for on the bay.
I would have no idea where else to look though.

Hi coyote711 -

Before I answer, I should let you know that this forum is not inhabited by "recovering knife addicts", we are all quite fully in denial.

That said:

PULL THE TRIGGER!

(and post pictures for us! :D )

Ken & CGM - I am just floored by the pics you posted of your knives! Thank you. They are both just BEAUTIFUL!!! I've got a Sodbuster Jr. with CV, and love it. I may just have to buy one in SS now, and keep my eyes out for a CV to buy whenever I find one.

So much for me stealthily finding one on the 'Bay. :p

Honestly though, I haven't found any deals on them there, and I've been looking. There is a local flea market with a few knife dealers. Maybe I'll try it this month.

I gave up on that about a month ago Jason. I guess we were looking at the same knives for a while there....good thing we didn't get to bidding against one another over there:p

I would check the flea market if you get a chance. You can find some good finds and prices on Case knives at those places.

I EDC a full size stainless Copperlock and sold my mini because it was too small for my hands.

Hi coyote711 -

Hey - I resemble that remark!

If one were to go to, oh, say, knifeworks.com and on the end of that web address they were to type, oh, say, /copperlocks.aspx

Enabler...indeed. lol.....

who knows what one might find...... :)

best regards -

All I can say to that, Mr. Norm Crosby, or WHOEVER you are, is that I'm shocked, shocked to find that enabling is going on in here!!! :D

(I can almost feel my billfold getting lighter and lighter all the time). :)

Get it, you won't regret it!
I got my Mom one a few years back for Christmas, and it was so nice it was hard not to keep it! (and sometimes when she EDCs something else I take the copperlock ;) ) its thin, light and pocketable, has just enough handle and nice shape to grip, enough blade, and that lock being further forward than the average lockback IS great, much easier to gip it to release.

Sounds like you boys from Georgia & Tennessee have some pretty good flea markets down there with a lot of knives for sale! Not nearly so much up here in the Midwest. If I lived down there I might think about buying all the CV knives I could find, list them on the bay and sell them to us boys up north for double or triple the price. Probably harder than it sounds! :D

Thanks for you input here everyone! Haven't pulled the trigger yet, but it's only a matter of time - watching a few on the bay right now. :)

It was my 40th B-Day Mon. I picked this up at Gander Mt. for a present from myself! I'm big into NASCAR and Dale Jr. is my guy. The green bone matches the AMP car he drives! I'm stoked. I wanted CV steel but I guese I'll just have to put a propper edge on my SS to make it a sweet slicer.
