Socom Elite Manual Vs. MSI??

I've been looking at the Microtech MSI vs the Socom Elite Manual. I recently got my third Socom Elite knife, and I'm now looking at the MSI. I like it, blade shape, my favorite type of lock, etc.

My question is how are they getting the same price for a G-10 version MSI as they do for a $360 Microtech Socom Elite?

Edit: After reading some reviews on the MSI I'm not sure about it anymore. LOL.

Hey there. I had a socom elite manual. I wanted to love it, but could not stand the geometry of trying to open it. There was something just way too tight and cumbersome about it. Not sure if you get what I am saying? I now have an MSI. When I first got it, I was like, 'ho hum'. But it grew on me and now it is my favorite knife! I have no hesitation to turn it into a user because of the G10, no fancy titanium. And I took a very fine grade wet/dry sand paper, put a little oil on the paper and very gently took the sharp edges down in the area of the dip where you deploy the blade and your index finger rests. What a difference and you cannot even tell I modded the knife at all. Fantastic knife, I want another one just so I have two!

Good question would be why either of those knives could be worth the asking price, but Microtech seems to have attracted a following that don't question the value of their products. Why are you comparing these exact two models? They don't really have anything in common besides being made by Microtech; it would make more sense to compare to the multitude of better value crossbar locks that have flooded the market.

I understand about the Socom Elite. Mine needed a few thousand opening and closings, now she runs great.

I just received my MSI from microtech 2 weeks ago and it's been in my pocket almost everyday since. It carries well for being a bigger folder. Ergos aren't as bad as people have said. I find it comfortable in hand with confidence. I'm happy I purchased it. Just give one a try, you might like it.

It may depend on your usage too. I love my socom elite, but it is definitely not an EDC knife that you can open in public : while it's a very effective slicer, its size and tactical appearance is sure to make people around you nervous.

I was disturbed by the tip down carry, but I left it in my pocket tip up once and while reaching for it, I noticed that it slightly opened itself. Shivers ensued.

Microtech will obviously never care about fixing thier locks. I've been buying them off and on since the company existed.

Including the Bravos, I have owned 5 Socoms. 1 had an issue with lock rock. Sent it in and had it back 2 weeks later, perfect.
I’ve never heard of them having issues with lockup, other than the one I owned
