Hey guys and gals. I have been looking at the case sodbusters for a while now. After ding some searching on here I got turned on to the Queen CC due to the D2. Now I have never owned anything with D2 but from the way everyone talks about its edge holding ability I'd like to give it a try, although I do understand it will be harder to sharpen.

Problem is every where I've looked online says discontinued.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to where I could buy one please? Thank you

BTW, I don't find D2 to be tough to sharpen. I'm sure that if it needed a new edge established it would be more work, but tune-ups are easy. I get a super working edge (I don't polish the edge) with just a Norton IB8 stone and the leg of my jeans..

Thank you sir. Still looking for one, the only one I've found so far has a Stainless blade, but I'd really like to try out that D2. I figure if other folks can sharpen it, then eventually I can too.

I have a Queen CC in D2 and it's not too hard to sharpen. The original edge was pretty obtuse and required a re-profile but that was done on my Edgepro. After that it's pretty easy to touch-up.

I think the stainless County Cousins are 440c, which is a very good steel. I wouldn’t pass one up, if I had the chance.

They used to be D2.......

Correct, they have been made in the past with both D2 tool steel and 440c stainless steel.

There is no current production that I am aware. My suggestion the OP was to grab any CC he can, because their stainless steel is very good also.

Thanks guys I've found one CC so far that's stainless. I had my heart set on the D2 but since I'm not able to find one I might have to just settle.

Once I seen the challenge of finding a CC with D2, I thought well lets see if we can find a GEC bullnose with 01.

Welp that's just as hard to find as the CC with D2. I'll keep looking and eventually run across one. They say all good things come to those who wait.

Would a 1978 plow boy be 440c as well or was they using a different steel back then. Also I'm sure it'll be fine but was their blades good back then?

Some knives it seems like back in the day is what you wanted, and others seemed to have improved

knifeswapper knifeswapper put out an early reserve today for a Maserin D2 Sodbuster. They'll be close to Case Sodbuster prices. I'd check one of those out.

Blade finished on par with an opinel; frame fit/finish on par with an Eye Brand. I am a bit spoiled to higher quality knives, but am really liking these as a beater. Behind the edge is a very slicey 0.018+/- and they are scarry sharp out of the box.

They look great Mike, in for a couple of them. Sized right between my #71's and big Manly.

How is the pull and snap on these?

No kidding, they take about 5 minutes of working with a good oil (I use slick50). After that, I would say pull is a 6+ and snap is labored but present. I wish the tangs were full square, as that would help. But they are square"ish". The more I fondle them the more I like them; but this is the first knife that I actually am careful pushing open with my finger - very sharp out of the box.

Hey knifeswapper I went to your website and clicked on that knife but it said nothing is in that category

How do I go about seeing it on your site? Thanks

All of that sounds excellent, and they're purdy wearing that wood.
