Anyone know when this knife will be available? 4.5" of VG10 blade has my name written on it! Says it will be a limited addition so where will be the best place to order this from? Man, the more I look at the picture the more I want it.....RIGHT NOW!!:thumbup::thumbup:

After posting I went to SOG's website and saw this knife. I also saw the MSRP of $575.00 which took a little wind out of my sails! Zytel handles for this price? At the very least micarta or G-10.

Hey it's great to see SOG come out with some new knives!! I really like the look of that fatcat, but to me it's not worth it for that price. You could get a nice custom folder for that price. I might however opt for that MOP stingray; looks pretty sweet and it's only half the price of the fatcat. Plus it's a little bit smaller for carrying. Yes, definitely the stingray for me.

I did see the Fatboy listed at one of the online shops for $340.00. Of course that is a preorder and I guess it will be August as the site says before availability. I really like the larger folders and already have the Pentagon Elite II folder w/5.0" blade, and have a Spec Elite II with the clip point 5.0" blade on order. At least I have until August to come to a decision on it!

The Fatcat was not designed for everyone. We knew going into it that its price would make it inaccessible to everybody. The knife is huge and when i say huge i really mean huge. In case you couldn't tell from the spec information it is more the 10" in over all length. I have uploaded a picture in comparison to the Trident folder. This might help out with the size comparison.

The handles are not Zytel they are Kraton rubber. The photo may be confusng be cause it is of a prototype and we do not have a Kraton version yet.

As for part of the blade being black it is TiNi coated in the black areas.

The fact that it is so huge is more of a deterent for me anyways then even the price. My pockets just don't have enough extra room to hold that beast even though I really, really like the design. Any chance you will be doing another run of them in a smaller version? I've noticed that you have done that with quite a few of the other models.

It has titanium bolsters and liners...looks like a good bit of kit. Is it Japan made? I am guessing so cause of the VG10.

OH, okay kraton. That would be serious price gouging otherwise. Plus titanium nuts and bolts. I can understand now. I think it would be cool if you made the black bits out of a different steel, like a run the Kershaw did a while back. It was a JYD with a D2 edge, carbon fiber scales, and tangerine handles.

I thought I'd want one at first, but there are too many design features I can't agree with. The most conspicuous being the grip swells that to my eye, contain too main 'friction spots'. Also I can't stand recurve blade profiles- but that's just ,me. Oh well.
