I purchased this awesome awesome knife a couple years back. And on the back of the back side of the blade, it is laser etched 20th 1986-2006. I was wondering if that makes it "collectible"? Not that I'm selling it, but just wanted to know the "status" on the blade.

I would doubt it makes any difference these days..
I would beat it like its meant to be.. Im interested to see if someone knows if it really is worth more..
Good luck and nice knife

Hi xledzeppzosox,

In my opinion, yes it will be a collectible. In fact since SOG last stopped producing the knives that had the '20th Anniversary logo' all the knives that had those immediately became collectible. :p Even shops that had the exact model don't know if their knives have the logo unless they open up the box and check the knife I think.

You should keep the knife and it will have some value to a collector (or to yourself) a few years down the road. Just like how the "Seki Japan" knives now have become somewhat a collectible series now that the SOG fixed blades are mostly made in Taiwan.

Just my 2 cents worth. Most people say that 'the value of a knife is what a person is willing to pay for it'. That is a rather vague and BS answer to me. :D

Cheers,
Mark ;)

Is the 20th anniversary still made in Taiwan.. Or is that a japan ?
Any chance of a picture...

To the best of my knowledge, the SOG Flash II, like the other SOG folders, were all made in USA. It is in every way the same as the ordinary Flash II production models except that it has the 20th Anniversary logo on the blade near the ricasso. No pics sorry maybe xledzeppzosox can provide some for us to see. :D

Hope this helps...

Cheers,

Awesome. Unfortunately, there are some scratches on the back of the blade after I tried to smooth out the back side of the serrations... Big mistake... But I will post some pictures. I love the blade.

Sad to see that the blade has scratches. It's value will decrease by quite a great deal. Most collectors want a new in box knife when they buy one, unless the buyers are buying the knife to use. But of course when a knife is rare enough one might be willing to overlook it's blemishes. If you really really want to keep one for collection I suggest you get a new one for yourself with the logo on it.

Cheers,
Mark ;)

Yeah... It makes me sad about the scratches... I wish i would have known it was going to be a collectors item. I just purchased the from amazon and it was the cheapest one on the page. Haha. I would have bought two. One for use, and one for a keepsake. Because this knife and my tenacious is an every day carry for me. And thank you for the help with the pictures.
