I own one of the S35VN SOG Terminus XRs. They just look like they have offered an updated version called the LTE that makes use of all carbon fiber handle construction which has eliminated a lot of the weight. I am fine with the model that I currently have with one exception...the clip. The updated LTE model has a redesigned clip. Does anyone know if the new LTE model is using the same mounting position for the clip and thus I would be able to request and use one of the LTE clips from SOG?

Probably your best bet is to just call them with the question and then request it.

I sent their customer service an email but its been about a week with no response so thought I would try my luck here. Guess I can put in a call as well.

Email is the most popular form now days and so we can get lost in the shuffle of a hundred others a day. But a phone call is in your face so they have to deal with ya. Course you can also sit on hold for lord knows how long too. I try phone and then email, myself.

Yeah I went to call but it was the weekend and they are still closed for the long weekend. I will try and shoot them a call soon. Hopefully the new clip will work since that is really the only issue I have with the blade which surprised me given its lineage (coming from SOG).

Also might be interested in the Terminus clip. Did you ever find out if the newer clips can be swapped out?
Unfortunately no. I requested a clip replacement from customer service and they said they had shipped one well over a month ago at this point. This reminded me to request another one though so maybe this one will actually go through.

Thats a good deal. Might have to try and get one for myself. Good on them for getting back to you.
There really is no reason not to get one. This clip makes the knife competitive with all those blades in the first picture and its an exceptional value right now at $85. From top to bottom you have the massdrop gent in the same steel (S35VN) and now a similar carry profile BUT you get three methods of opening vs one. Thumbstud, flipper, XR lock. Except right now the massdrop gent cant be had for under $90.

Then the civivi elementum. This verison is in D2 so the steel on the SOG is better with a better lock (in my opinion).

The civivi ortis is a great blade but the S35vn is going to perform better than the 9cr damascus.

I love my Hogue mini ritter but that is a blade that is over $40 more expensive and now the pocket clip is better on the SOG.

Hard to say anything bad about the 20CV Grip, but once again that is a $160 knife.

Hi c7m2p3,
Question about your replacement clip. I see you have a Terminus XR, and the XR LTE is not in the clip replacement list. So all you had to do was call them to get the replacement? I'm trying to figure out if this clip may be a suitable replacement for my Vulcan Tanto VG-10 San Mai. I used their clip request service feature on the SOG site *3* times... twice at one address, and then again after I moved. NEVER got anything from them. Well, now the Vulcan is off the list. I expect they never had it and the entry there was a mistake. I'm hoping the XR LTE might work. It also extends out from the center of the back end and then curves around to run parallel to the scale.
Thanks...

Yeah I wound up reaching out to customer service directly via email first because I saw that the new updated XR LTE clip was not in the drop down menu for replacement clips. They replied promptly and sent one my way. Had it on the knife within two weeks.

Thanks! I was able to speak with someone at SOG customer service and let them know I needed a Terminus XR LTE clip. They sent it in about 10 days. It's just a touch small on my full size Vulcan, but it works, holds the knife well to a pocket, feels less obtrusive, and is better than the insanely stupid original clip (hard angles, too much metal cut away making vulnerability). I also like the XR LTE clip style over other possible candidates (SOG Visionary II).

Yeah it is certainly a step up and I really hope they are planning on designing a larger version for some of their more full size options like your vulcan. It's just right on the Terminus XR and takes what was already a pretty decent value into new territory often kicking out more expensive knives over the past summer.

It's also reassuring to see a brand step up to offer a service like this. Clips can get bent & damaged over time, or even lost / misplaced when going clipless for a while. Don't know of any other brand that would just ship you a new clip with no cost to the knife owner. You don't even have to have your knife registered with them.

I have had Benchmade send me new clips before but I do agree. I didn't even have to specify that I had the LTE version or that my current clip was broken or bent. No questions asked on their end; SOG seems to be upping their game and deserves the commendations. A knife with the specs this one has at the price point you can get it and that type of customer service is really punching over its weight right now.
