SOG Trident, which versions are US, how to tell

So I made a quick decision on a SOG Trident folder that during research appears to be an original US made one but I couldn't see a picture of the back of the blade. I only paid 29 bucks so I'm not to worried about it that much but I am interested and a little anxious like I am on every knife I get on eBay which 9/10 times I get a good little score that someone didn't fully understand what they had or I took a chance on something that turned out to be amazing.

Is there noticeable difference between the original and the newer ones? I know I wanted to buy a new one a few months ago but I was reading they've really taken a dive on quality and didn't want to pay 75-100 dollars when I was able to get a benchmade griptillian for 85-100. Either way 30 bucks for a spring assisted SOG isn't a bad deal.

I was under the impression that all Tridents were "assembled in the USA". Has that changed?

Maybe where I was getting confused is I was reading that parts were made in Taiwan and assembled in USA. I just notice all the ones I see at the store are foreign I have yet to see a trident in the stores when I've looked, I made a bad assumption due to what I have been seeing that they were making all models in US, Taiwan and China. Thank you for the info.

I have the exact same knife. Its either made in Taiwan or China cannot remember but DFTLY not US made at all. Parts made and assembled overseas. The Trident package will say "Designed in Oregon USA Made in China(or Taiwan)" My local Walmart and Lowes stock these and all the other poopy low end SOGS. They sell well

I did check out a Trident II at the store and it is indeed "Designed In Oregon USA Made in China" although I am sure some are made in Taiwan as well never a US made model. Did SOG ever make anything in the states?

damn man! I know they just pushed production overseas to quadruple their profits but come ON they could have still had a US line of stuff! The Taiwan and China stuff is doo doo! Save for the fixed blades

Unfortunately for most the name of the game is money, the more you sell the more you make and our country for the most part has no clue about quality, look at Gerber they used to be a great company then they made a deal with devil disguised as WalMart and everything save a few models went to China, now they are considered crap. I am an instructor for soldiers after they get out of basic training and one of the things we see is they are quick to throw their money away at a little qiosk selling 30 dollar ChinaMart knives when there is a store that sells benchmade and KaBar right next door. I have to convince them if they need a knife that bad while in training(it's commo training they don't "need" a knife and can't carry it during training anyway) to buy a quality one from the knife shop, but nope they want cheap. That said I do like Sogs hawks and throwers, they are cheap and I don't worry about breaking them as much and they are easy to throw.
