My new Twitch 1 went directly from the box into my pocket (okay, I opened and closed it 1,537 times first).

Now it's gathered a reasonable amount of lint, dust, and fuzz...in all the little nooks and crannies.

(1) What's the best way to clean it up again? Soap and water? <gasp>

And, once it's clean, I'd like to put some Militech-1 on it to keep it snappy.

(2) Where should a drop or two go?

TIA.

I clean all mine in hot water with joy liquid or equal, squirt it in and all over pivot area, carefully work blade back and forth,(careful, sharp and slick does not go together) rinse well by running hot tap water all in and around all moving parts. Then leave open and let evaporate while lying on a towel (hot water on knife makes it evaporate quickly), then finish drying with a blow dryer, (make sure and close blade and carefully shake knife hard to remove all water from spring and pivot area). The dryer will take care of the rest. Lastly, put a drop of mili in pivot area, let seep down into each side of blade pivot. I always keep an old tooth brush handy for real bad crud in the knife.

Then open 1,500 more times, (tonight) and it will be as smooth as silk. :)

Robbie,

Thanks! I was somewhat hesitant to submerge my knife but you've bolstered my confidence. I'll take the, um, plunge tonight.

I can't wait to see how it behaves after a couple of drops of Mili work their way in.

The most important thing is to let your knife get heated up well under hot water to allow for evaporation after cleaning, then blow dry.
I like mili, but I don't like the smell on my knife. I use zebco reel oil found in a pen tube at walmart in the fishing section. It is lightweight and works well on all knives. But mili will definately smooth up the most finicky knives and make them work well.

here's my favorite do-everything fluid: DuraLube Spray Lubricant. Not the stuff you pour into the crankcase, they also make a spray lube, their website has the details.

I use it on almost EVERYTHING.... guns, knives, anything/everything mechanical that moves/slides/rubs.

Cheers,

Carl
