Hello, not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but wasn't sure where else to put it. I just had surgery on my foot a few days ago and decided to find myself a cane to aid in my recovery. I came across solidaluminumcane.com which specializes in solid aluminum and solid titanium canes. The canes have a few different options including different styles of tops, extensions, etc. The most interesting aspect is the fact that the canes are machined from a solid peice of titanium/aluminum. They look just plain awesome from the photos online. Anyways, I ordered a titanium version and it was shipped out the same day I ordered(Yesterday). Being a huge fan of Ti gear, I am anxiously awaiting for this to deliver. Wondering if anyone has any experience with these canes/walking sticks or the company as I only came across one very short review of the aluminum version on youtube. I will be posting my thoughts on the cane after I get it and have a few days using it.

Yes , please let us know. I had looked for Ti canes but couldn't find one .Most Ti was actually Ti colored Al .
I did get a KABAR defensive cane which is 1" dia . Happy with it though haven't used it for defense. Found a tip with a spike for ice or closed for normal use .And the cane can support your weight.

I have one of their canes with the knob top. It is extremely well made. I am 100% pleased with mine. I like them enough that I am getting one with the derby handle for Christmas.

I had looked at the kabar cane as well, but I was very intrigued by these canes being that they are not extruded/pipe, but solid. Some pretty substantial skill needed on a lathe to turn such a long piece of ti. The thing weighs around 2.5 lbs if i remember correctly. Also have option to have it smooth or with grooves. I can't wait to get this thing. Really classy. I will definitely report back.

I actually ordered both style handles when I placed the order. Ted, the owner, was a pleasure to do business with. Do you have the ti or aluminum?

I have the aluminum with the grooved shaft. Getting two handles is a great way to go. I thought about just getting a second handle, but my wife wanted to get me something nice for Christmas and that was what I came up with. I'm looking forward to hearing how you like the titanium.

Spectacular! Of course, I'd be tempted to hit someone with it, but I'd hate to scuff it up. :D

I got a fiberglass knobtop that is so light, I can hardly feel the weight. But it holds up under a lot of weight.

Would be nice if I could get a Ti one not polished and maybe anodized. Hate shiney things !

I am currently searching for an engraver to do some scroll work on the knob top....haven't even recieved the cane yet. I'm stoked! Post man can't get here soon enough, not to mention that I actually need the thing to walk at the moment.

Hoping it delivers today. A few drawbacks to the design for an edc cane are: lack of flexibility, ti handle will be very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer, thievery, and the bling factor. While this thing looks fantastic, I suspect it could draw some unwanted attention as opposed to a more plain looking wooden cane. Nonetheless I am excited about it and after my foot recovers I will keep in my car to bring on outdoor excursions, camping/hiking trips. I will report back with intial impressiobs when I get it.

Nope, not so.
Due to the heat conducting properties of TI...or rather the severe lack of it...TI wont be a problem to handle.

Certainly not in the summertime. But a common misconception.

During winter months, you'll be having on gloves anyway.

1. Paint it black.

2. Paint it black.

Look forward to it.

For the record; I hate you!

A ti cane is the most ridiculous thing, Ive ever heard!

....and I want one!!

(I dont even limp).

.

PS Actually contemplating a hiking staff..., which the company also offers.

Bladescout, thank you for the information. I may very well take your advise. Maybe even anodize it. I totally forgot about the heat conducting properties (lack of). And yes, it is indeed ridiculous! Gonna be sick no less. I saw the staff on the website and i am also tempted. Will post pics when the cane gets here.

Cane still hasn't delivered. USPS tracking says tommorrow so fingers are crossed. Seriously considering putting a brushed finish on it as soon as I get it. I am not a huge fan of the high polished look. Not sure that I want to paint it, but another option would be to get it cerakoted. Will see how a thorough scotchbrite treatment looks on it.

Cane arrived. Expectations exceeded. Simply put....it is a marvelous piece of solid titanium badassness.

Any pictures or longer term review on this? The website only has a few pics. I'm considering one, I'd have it made Black somehow. The titanium

?? Zirconium I've seen with a black coating > Zr is similar to Ti so I wondered if the Zr coating could be used on Ti ?

My KABAR is my first cane so I'm still learning. Today I was using it to do a little cleaning up from our big wind storm - and was using the hook to move around some fallen branches ! I had it in my hand so I used it rather than find my Peavey.
