I picked these up in the flea-market this week. The Taylor's Eye Witness Horseman's knife is the first of tI've come across in this pattern at a reasonable price, and I was quite pleased to find it despite the considerable wear and tear. The knife has clearly been used hard, and unfortunately the pen blade is broken, the Sheepsfoot is very heavily worn, and some of the other tools have lost their tips. Despite that, it still has a very solid feel to it.

The small ivory penknife is quite nice I think, and is in great shape with an excellent snap. It's Sheffield made, but I can't make out the name of the cutler, if indeed it is given.

The tiny tortoise-shell knife and the button-hook knife are also both made in Sheffield, but the tangs are simply marked with the name of the town. The equally small Swinden Key penknife is German made.

Nice haul! I've been in a dry period recently, which is just as well, because I've bought some real crap a little less recently.
That horseman's knife is a distinguished old soldier, and I don't think I've ever seen a button-hook on a knife.

Thanks pal, hopefully the Curse of The Quest has been lifted! :D

I think the button-hook knife has been made up from parts originally made up for another knife, as both 'blades' are crinkled.

Awesome horseman's knife. I don't think I'd ever get one as they are much too bulky, but there is something about the pattern that draws me. They are impressive examples of English cutlery.

Holy Jumpin Jack Flash...my tongue is hangin out over the Horseman's knife. It's a gas!!!!!

I love that you will buy a knife with a busted or worn down blade .
I now realise I have passed over a few pieces of " Treasure " because of signs of heavy use .
Can I be so rude as to ask roughly how many knives you have in your possession ?
You must have to rent a storage shed to house them all :)

ah c'mon... more of an enchantment than a curse surely;) good scores Jack.

I will normally pass on any old knife that has a broken off blade, but, this one is exceptional. I think I would have gone for it too and gone away with a big smile on my face. The ole knife has a lot of character and some pretty useful looking tools. Great find Jack!;)

Nice horsemans knife! Looks like it has a fleam too, I just love that pattern. Hands down my favorite. They are so hard to find at a reasonable price, that one has great character

Awesome Taylors knife Jack - beautiful Stag - its the first I have seen in that pattern by Eye Witness - great find worn or not my friend!

Thanks a lot guys

LOL! Thanks Ken, I've definitely got worse during the Quest period. If I can get it at a fair price, I pass up on very little. If a spring is gone or the blade is so worn it's no longer a knife, I'll pass, but generally I feel a compulsion to buy just about anything I find! :D Ordinarily I'd have passed on the small Swinden Key, but the seller threw it in anyway, and I got the whole lot for £15. Storage is becoming a problem! :D

I have been turned into a blade hog! :D

Thank you sir :) If it had been a Knife with 1 or 2 blades, I'd probably have passed. It probably doesn't have a lot of practical use, but I really couldn't resist snapping it up at that price. The last Horseman's Knife I saw on sale was close to £100, and was in far from mint condition.

Well done Jack. That Horsemans knife is something and the stag is great. Check with your dentist before using the steel tooth-pick.:D

Thanks my friend :) You're not kidding, I lost two crowns recently just eating a small piece of liquorice! I think it's actually a pin though, it really took some getting out!
