Does anyone have any info on the Swiss(apparently) watch company called Picard and Cie??
http://www.picardcie.com

Their watches retail for up to 2,495 dollars USD, and yet I have NEVER seen them sold brand new for more than 199 dollars. They usually go for about 80 or 100 dollars, barely.

Also odd is that I've never seen them sold at anything other than auction sites.

I don't get it.

I realise dealers might buy it at wholesale, but how much exactly is wholesale?

Just curious, as someone is selling a few on a local auction site, and I happen to be looking for a new watch(and have been for the past 2 years!).

I'd say trust your nose! $199.00 sounds high from what I can see!!
Keep shopping.......too much show and a lack of go here, I'm afraid.

Japanese quartz, no-name watches with an MSRP for $1500-$2200?

Uh.... I hear bells ringing things that sound like "Klaus Kobec" and all the other joke watch companies that advertise in Car & Driver and Automobile.

There's crap, and then there's crap for fools.

I would stick to the better-known brands. Especially ones that don't use stupid marketing speak... I would hazard these folk to be the equivalent of those brands you see on HSN late at night.... "35 Bucks ... for TWOOOO HUNDDREEEEED KNIVESS!!!"

Ed, I used to have a G-shock, two infact. One lasted me 13 years, the other barely a few months. I don't trust modern G-shocks anymore. Old ones yes(from the 80's like the one that lasted me 13 years), but not modern ones.
I now use a seiko 5 auto, but want something more special, and I don't want a digital or quartz analog watch anymore.

As many people have said, I want something with a soul.(yeah, sounds weird but it's kinda true)

My favourite is the Omega Seamaster, and possibly Rolex Sub. Also the Fortis Pilot Pro for excellent styling and value for money.

Needless to say I can't afford them, although the Fortis comes much closer, so I've decided either to wait for a good vintage, or I'll buy an Ollech and Wasj M-4 diver for only 240 USD, which is a lot for me but the watch is outstanding and quite possibly the best value for money deal on the internet today.
I've only just discovered the Ollech and Wasj today. Awesome watch, amazing price for what it is.

Stay safe guys,
Emanuel
