Spa Treatment from Buck Factory

I've seen reference made to the Spa Treatment from Buck on used knives. Wondering what this entails. What is the approximate cost? I'm getting ready to send a dull knife I picked up back to Buck for sharpening. Cost will be $6.95, per conversation with their operator today. While I'm capable of sharpening a dull knife, I seem to remember in the past sending knives back and getting them back with a good as new (in some cases better) edge. Two that come to mind are a Mentor Fixed blade I rolled the edge on that belonged to my nephew. I was trying to chop through a pelvic bone on the first white tail he took, and the edge just folded over (got it back, good as new). The next is an older Nighthawk I had for several years that was bought brand new and was fairly dull on the edge. Took advantage of the "Edge 2000" upgrade for $5 (back better than new) and now it has a wicked edge.

What will my $6.95 get me? The rest of the knife is excellent, I just suspect somebody cut a ton of cardboard with it.

Thanks in advance.

All I can say is that every knife I've sent in for the spa treatment came back shaving sharp. I "believe" that's just part of the deal.

Thanks, Dave. I'm guessing that $6.95 will include sharpening and a little cleaning, buff, and polish? Least I hope so!

Thanks for your quick reply.

NICE!! It is "only" a Bucklite 422, so I don't expect much "buffing on the bolsters" (jeez, that sounds obscene) but I think it will be well worth it to get back to that factory new edge. Yours look great. Thanx for the pix.

I took in a couple 112's and a 560 to be refurbished in January and Buck did'nt charge me anything, to include the blade change on the 560. In March I took in 3 105's and a 118 for the same thing and Buck charged me $20 for all 4 knives. I almost felt guilty on the drive home as the knives were almost like new and razor sharp. I have had knives refurbished by Randall and Strider also and I think Buck's warrently service is the best available.

I've sent multiple 110's back and they always come back beyond what I expected. I have 3 ready to go back right now. Cant beat the Spa.

Here's another example. I found this old 112 in a tool box that belonged to my Wife's Dad after he passed away. The blade had been broken and reshaped and it was a little sad looking. I sent it in for a new blade and a spa job. I was thrilled with the way it came back.

They do an immense amt of spa treatment. Bags of knives show up everyday. Awesome job.

Will they center the blade on a 110 and what makes it go out?
Yes, in the link will be instructions asking you to include a note when sending your knife in explaining any issues you'd like fixed. If you prefer not to have your blade sharpened , they will need to know.

I think I can get a crowd of Amen's on this. But most post build blade problems are caused by an effect called "pry bar". Also broken blades. Tips break off caused by the cosmic effect called "screw-driver". Both effects are channeled by the human mind. 300
