That’s the flex for the lock. Its on all of them.

I meant the groove in the wood running longwise tip to tip of knife, seen in 1st and most promonent in second photo. Looks like it would aid traction. Zooming in at flickr shows how clean the groove ends at the bottom of knife! Sweet
