notes for care and use: primarily for stabbing in self defence against wild dogs and black bears

I will count myself a lucky man if I can ever earnestly write something as cool as that.

Perfect. This is not something I have a pressing need for immediately but it's certainly something I have a pressing desire for. Nice work

@gregorio: for the diameter and mass it is very stiff. I could not find anything stiffer than unidirectional carbon fiber over solid wood core... I could do another layer of uni, but it would be heavier and the stuff gets expensive. I think for the stresses involved i.e. impacts on angry meat, spear hand-held by 120lb woman it is more than sufficient. I wouldn't under-build my girl's bear protection!

Thanks all! It was a fun build.

That is REALLY cool. You've made me want to make a besh wedge spear. How long is the tang?

- Chris

Materials were probably in the 150$ range if I take into consideration shipping and taxes.

The tang has over 5" behind the collar, or about 7 3/4" from the tip of the shaft.

As soon as I looked at the BeshWedge I thought "SPEAR"!

NOw for something a little bigger for myself... and maybe a naginata too!

I wouldn't mind having one of those in 1095 or 5160. Not really sure how the hafting works, but it looks cool. Maybe I'll have to save up and have you make me one of those :)

I'm pretty sure, having asked after you, that I would be in line. I'm going to go play with my gladius some more. Sheesh. :P

Lol you know i was just messing with you... i'm jealous. I won't have my gladius for at least a few days, and that's if i get really lucky

I'm going to go take out my aggression on a tree limb with my Kukri ;)

Dang, man--that's pretty sweet! I request--nay--DEMAND more pics! :D

Do one shaped like an iklwa next!
