Hey fellow Beckerheads

Any one here who has the Spec Ops Combat Master sheath? Any thoughts on fit and finish?

What sort of size does the pouch have? Is the sheath well-designed? Did they use quality materials?

Any input appreciated. Pics more than welcome!

I belive its the only sheath Guyon uses...

I thought he had a few threads floating around with reviews and good pictures too

I have that sheath for my BK2. It is top-shelf all the way. 100% USA made and it shows. They dont have one that will fit the BK9. but they have 2 lengths that fit the '2 or the '7. Pouch isnt huge, but I have a Firesteel, Striker, Wetfire tinber, and an Allen key in there.

The only other fully made sheath I have seen that is worth getting it the ESEE sheath which is much harder to find and more expensive.

It will fit a blade up to 8" long. A Chris Reeve Harsey comes with one. They are made in the USA and from my own experience, they are very well made.

theres also a thread out there showing the adjustment of the insert to mold to the knife

but I cant find it for some reason

Very high quality sheath, my only complaint is they don't fit the BK9.

I just got one of the older style, Combat Survival Sheath from Spec Ops, and other than the small pocket size, which is supposed to be bigger on the CSS, I like it. Light, well made, lots of adjustments can be made, and it holds the knife real secure. The split straps are cool, but I don't really need them split, but a good looking sheath for the price, should serve you well. And Made In the USA.

I know, Prop, but I still like it say that anyway.:D

Spec-Ops sheaths came standard with certain Camillus BK7s, the BK7 SG and the BK77 Extreme.

I think they're fine sheaths with a quality build. Here are some I have:

PropThePolecat, if you're looking for a sheath to fit the 3, 5, or 7, do a search for Texas Hunt Co. Fieldmaster.
Texas Hunt Co. is a sister company of Spec Ops and aims its line of gear at hunters.
They currently have the long sheath on clearance in walnut, black, and camo.
Apparently, they had the short versions on clearance too, but I missed those.
Aside from labeling, the sheaths are a close mirror to the Spec Ops name brand.
Made in the same factory, I'd bet. I'm still contemplating picking up a camo long before they're gone.
The black sheath above (on the BK3) and the walnut sheath above (on the BK5) are Texas Hunt Co. sheaths.

Hey Moose, I recalled the pocket on the Survival as bigger, mainly because I remember seeing pics of them in W&SS stuffed to the gills. They are supposed to be more "expandable" than the Combat Masters. The adjustable strap/buckle does extend the vertical range of the pocket as you can see here:

Yeah, but the cross strap limits the expansion. S, don't use it you say? I have been trying to get a kit built since I go it, and I still don't have it. I do like it though. I decided to let my ESEE5 claim that sheath, the colors match better, and my BK2 really l likes is ESEE5 sheath. So, looks great, works great, and can't beat that price.

I actually thought about modding that cross strap to make it more "expandable." I remember others doing something similar, but these sheaths are so old that the pics in W&SS are gone. However, I don't really carry that much in a sheath kit. Multitool or SAK, firesteel, fire straws, whistle, button compass, maybe a lighter and a micro light. That's about it.

I'm just trying different things, I like a pouch that can fit an E blanket, thost things are nice to have. Can't put on in that sheath. So, probably some other stuff, not much, keep it low pro, and get it out and get dirty.

How do you like the brown? I'm trying to decide between the brown or camo.

thanks

They're nice. Here's a better pic. All these are Texas Hunt Co.
