just wondering if anyone has tried speedy sharp (the 10 buck sharpener) i got it at Canadian tires and the stuff at the tip of this thing is tough as hell, i used it on spyderco sharp maker and it scratched the ceramics right off the sharpening stones. anyone tried one of these?

thoes things scrape steel away which is usually way too much. they shorten the life of a knife and leave grooves in the edge. it would be ok to use on lawnmower blades but do your knives a favor and keep it away from them.

Why were you scraping a POS carbide "sharpener" on another sharpening tool? Seems kind of silly.

Personally I would never subject one of my blades to those scrapers.

yea lol but i wanted to know which material is harder since the sharp maker ranks 9 on the moh scale and diamond ranks 10

If you are endeared by any of your knives, you won't use a scraper on any of them!!! I have several knives in the $300+ bracket and I wouldn't get them even close to a scraper. I use ceramics and strop on a black hard Arkansas stone. The secret to keeping a fine blade in top shape is sharpen it lightly before it gets dull. I like the water stone edge, but don't like the cost of them, and don't like how they cup out after a few usings. If you can't carve a beard hair with your knife it needs work.
