Can anyone recommend a knife maker for a copy of the spiked Cobra Knife used in the movie with Sylvester Stalone? Harold Corby made the original, sold all that he made, 15-20 if I remember right for about $1500-2000 each.

I had an estimate by one maker for $3000, way too much. I could buy an original for less than that.

A good quality copy for around $500 or so.

Thanks

You could buy an original, if you could find it, that is!

If you want it for some "coolness" great, go find someone to make it! Gil Hibben comes to mind.

If you want it for any kind of use, please realize that this is a "movie knife" and you will hurt yourself badly with it if you try any "knife fighting" moves with it.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

First thing is first, H. J. Schneider made the original Cobra knife, and that is a fact. The Corby was an authorized reproduction.

No one, and I repeat, no one else has been given the okay to do a replica of the Cobra knife. Who quoted $3,000 for one? Also, where can you find a Corby Cobra knife for sale? I'd buy it at any price.

Bottom line, I wouldn't want a $500 copy of the Cobra knife. Way too much precision required to get a good job for $500.

Thanks for the information and the picture on who actually made the knife. I didn't know it was H.J. Schneider. I haven't seen a good photo of this knife in so long I forgot how awesome it is!

Steven is right on. Herman Schneider made the knife for Stallone, he made a total of five knives, Herman has one , Sly has one the other three went to collectors

Speaking of Harold Corby you should try to find one of his Devils Right Hand combat knives. It's a D- Guard with Saw teeth on the backside of the blade,& different interchangeable D-Guards.One with spikes, one with saw teeth, and one with a the D Guard Sharpened. It's one of the Most Wicked Combat Knives I've everseen or owned.

Thes as a pair for sale ate exquist knives
I think they are gong for 7k :)

It says "Set of Two "Cobra" Knives by Friedrich Schneider of Germany"

Isn't his name Herman?...

(Somehow I believe I'm asking one quite dumb question here, but I still need
to know this.)

Thanks!

As mentioned previously, Herman Schneider is the original maker. Friedrich Schneider is another knifemaker, who apparently made some Cobra knife copies.

To the poster who asking for comparison pics, I've got a Corby Cobra, but sadly was unable to purchase the one from Nordic Knives. :(

Here is part of a conversation I had with Bill Johnson in regards to the Cobra knife...

You have been sent 6 pictures.

"Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Here are some more pics of the Cobra knife. Once again it is made of 3/8ths inch 440c, and is about 15 inches overall in length.

The first pic shows how then knife goes into the sheath.

Second is white handle.

Third is black handle

Forth are pics of knife in progress.

Sixth is the only other view I have. Boy holding knife. Notice his reflection in the blade.

These pictures illustrate the knife that I can make for you. There are really no options to the design, other than the handle slabs, which are made of micarta, and can be white, or black.

The price I quoted you is $1250.00, I have to have the $300 deposit before I start construction, and the balance plus shipping prior to delivery.

Best Regards, Bill Johnson"
