I'm a lanyard kind of guy, braided leather, just looks nice for me and makes it easier to draw out of the pocket, but, the split rings that come on some of them seem too large at least for me.

Measured to the outside of the split ring is about 12mm so I had my wife pick up some split rings at a hobby shop, Michaels, they measure 9mm across, while it seems like a small difference, it is pretty good size in comparison to the knife handle

Here's a comparison with the original, the new one is much more compact, plus the original one has already started dinging my black scales on the Cadet :grumpy: ugh, if only I had gotten this sooner!

While we can always suggest to SAK about such things, you can still take matters in your hands and change out things. The split ring that's on the Executive I think would work for about any of their knives.

That's a good fit on the Cadet Gary. I'll have to check that out...maybe I have some smaller ones in my repair kit.

BTW, the spring repair kit is the bee's knees when repairing a spring!!! Worth the money if you buy a lot of used knives!

That's a sweet setup there! and yes those split rings don't need to be that large, I won't be putting KEYS on them ;)

Thank you! I have used it quite a bit. I've bought some nice knives with broken springs really cheap and then replaced the spring in 2 min.
