Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2010 Report - Prototype Pictures

I like the junior very much.
Only the hole looks somehow "weird" in this blade

Bolt action lock looks to me to function similar to an Axis or CBBL in that you can open the knife by releasing the stud.

Dialex Jr and PPT are the best of the lot for me. CF Chinese also looks really appealing as a gent's knife.

Spyderco has seriously stepped up their game in the design team/collaboration departments. Other manufacturers beware. I can't wait for these to hit the market

I absolutely did not expect to like this knife so much as I did. The same went for many of the attendees I talked to about this knife. This is one sweet handling, slick opening/closing folder. The Bolt Action Lock is very smooth and positive, no blade play in any direction. Furthermore, it’s completely ambi. I was operating the lock with two fingers, like a bolt lock, but a fellow spyderknut showed me that it works just as well when you operate only one of the knobs. You don’t even ‘force’ the action to the opposite side of the handle, when you operate the lock one-handed in this fashion.

The knife was originally designed by Sal, who was going for a mix between a Native and a Caly 3. It is a very practical design, and since this is the first true ambi lock it’s going high on my wish list. I really recommend this Sage.

I'm in for one or two when they arrive.

Thanks for the pics!

As always, thanks for the pics, Wouter.

And as always, Spyderco will keep me broke this year. :p

Thanks Wouter! I have a slight addiction to G10 and wire clipped anything. Looks like another great line up.

Many thanks Wouter. Spyderco really took me by surprise with this great assortment of new and exciting models. I'm in love with Ed's Balance and Eric's translucent Manix, not to mention the Paramillie II.

I agree about the Balance. I want to see it with the stainless frame lock. The Para II is on my "must buy" list. Sal, could you please do a Para II run in Orange G-10? :D

Am I the only one who thinks that the Balance begs for a G-10 and titanium scales combo with a framelock (a la the Leafstorm)? That way it would be quite slim and would be a perfect back up edc...

Nah, I've never been into those half G-10 / half Ti combinations... :grumpy:
OTOH, I'd be all over a FRN version with wireclip...

could just be one of the coolest knives ever made:D

Lol. Definitely a cool feature. They've made some really good changes to the knife.

Anyone know how long the knife has been out? EDIT: If http://www.spydie.nl/history.html is correct, it was 2004. However, the military came out 8 years before that in 1996.

The para military was the knife that really got me into knives, makes the second version that much better.
