Hey guys, just looking for some input on a new knife I want to pick up. Since both are around the same price range just looking for some pros and cons and which you'd suggest. I love FRN handles and do tend to have smaller hands but don't shy away from bigger knives. I would use it primarily for box opening and various everyday tasks. Which do you suggest, delica for dragonfly? Thanks guys.

I like 'em both. Either one will open a box. But if doing box cutting or break downs, I'd go with the Delica.

I find myself carrying the Dragonfly often because it's so small and light, and I always have at least one heavier duty blade on me also. Even though I like it, I never carry the Delica because I just like my Domino, or random ZT's better for a stronger knife. But the Dragonfly is pretty amazing. Tight lockup, smooth action, easy to keep sharp, and 1 oz is not even noticeable in my back pocket.

Super light EDC duties the DF2. The Delica is the regular EDC for when you need a real purchase on the handle. I carry a DF2 around all the time its a great little throw it in your pocket EDC for dong nothing major. The ZDP gets crazy hair shaving sharp at this thin profile.

Either one will open a box.

That sounds exactly like something I would say. Well done.

I very much prefer the Delica 4 to the Dragonfly for EDC, though I own several of the latter as well. In my view, there is little benefit to the smaller Dragonfly. You only save an ounce or two with the Dragonfly, which you won't notice in the pocket, and you lose some much-needed real estate for your grip. The Dragonfly is awesome, but in my view the Delica is awesomer with little if any downside.

^ This!

I enjoy dragonfly because it's so small and light, but it's almost too small if it's the only blade you have on you. I just used my Delica to prepare a whole meal with ease. Prob could've done it with the Dragonfly, but not with the same ease.

Get the delica in zdp-189

Unless it's humid/hot. I live in west Texas and work outside a lot. My legs sweat. I don't like zdp-189.

As for the OPs question: If you can only pick one, go with the Delica. Get whatever variant you like. I like the plain old VG-10 ones. Orange and purple being my favorites. The Delica just does more things more of the time. If you can afford it though, you won't regret buying one or twelve of each.

Agree with all above - Delica for regular EDC, DF for 'just in case'.

Delica is just more useful - handles more tasks easier, fits the hand for better control, longer cutting edge.

I carried a DF2 Salt for a bit but it now sits in my tackle box. Looking forward to getting DF2 in HAP40, if that ever comes out. ;)

Depends heavily on hand size and personal preference. The Dragonfly is a very fine little knife, but it's simply too small for me to use with any confidence, the ergos just do not work for my hands. The Delica is much better for me, though I still prefer a more hand-filling handle. If you have the opportunity to go to a brick and mortar store, handle both and see what you think.

I have both and carry both. I have quite a number of each. But, I carry the Delica more in general. It slices, it dices, it makes Julienne fries.

personally I like the Dragonfly little bit better than the Delica. I now have two Dragonflys. I had the Delica for many years. Still bummed I lost it.
