I am going to gift my son who is in the military either a Spyderco Jumpmaster 2 (H1) or a Buck GCK spearpoint (5160).
Does anyone have any experience with either or these knives and if so what feedback can you provide
in regards to which would be better.

I don't have the Buck but based on the images, it appears to be made of thicker stock than the JM2.
The Buck is carbon steel while the Spyderco is H1.
I use my JM2 for fishing duties and it works fine.
Not of big fan or FRN or G10 so the handles are a wash.
Again based on the images, the JM2 looks like a slimmer package while the Buck looks meatier.
The Buck is MOLLE ready, the JM2 sheath is not too shabby either.
You will need to take care of 5160 while I just throw my JM2 in the bucket and maybe give it a rinse when I get home.
H1 will oxidize, it just clouds a bit and is easy to get back to normal.
I don't think you can go wrong either way.
Hope this helps.

btw, I got the Jump Master because I wanted a full serrated fixed and I also have an Aqua Salt.
