Hey all

Found this thread on www.britishblades.com, its an anti-knifecrime poster that has a spydie on it to make a point that knives are scary dangerous things.

http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89012

Might as well have pictured a screwdriver, scissors, kitchen-knife, etc...:thumbdn:

I dont think the graphic's guy at the ad-bureau knows squat about knives, he just picked the one that looked most menacing. But he had the presence of mind (feared a lawsuit) to remove the spydie bug.

Should have pictured a regular kitchen knife if you asked me.

looks like an endura to me..maybe the police model (the irony!)

Typical fear mongering...sad that soon knives will be totally banned in a lot of places.

Oh, my God. That is one badly kept Spydie! And it doesn't even have spyderedge! That looks more like abused puppy than killing tool... All those crap in blade, scratches and rust...

I would like to go find owner of that spydie and give him pretty good punches *ahem* lessons about how to keep your knives in order and what is proper way to use them...

Besides most homicides in UK happend other than Spyderco knives. They use few pound crappy copies or more widely available tools like kitchen cutlery...

*edit removed unneccessary part concieved while suffering brainfart*

I thought "Endura" when I saw it too.

Freaking ridiculous poster though...

something like this happened in The Netherlands. some dude stabbed another dude with a scissor and in the paper they didn't show a scissor but replaced it with a First Blood Signature Edition Knife Replica just to make it look cool. man, things like this really make me angry.

I'm not going to be able to comment on that in this part of the forum.

What that poor knife endured is simply criminal. :p

We all need to put an end to knife crime and report all cases of knife abuse. Get involved before another knife meets the same fate.

The push for fear of inanimate objects is truly terrifying. What this says is "fear your fellow man." In a world where there is pretty much no original imagination, the imagination that is programmed in us is fear based. I hate it. This is absolutely disgusting.

I belive that's a spyderco military. Pretty stupid...I'd rather kill someone with a baseball bat than a knife, and I can buy that at target.

For the last few years there has been a "knife crisis" in the UK. When I think about such a crisis, I think about people being stabbed or cut. The numbers for knife related hospital visits for the last several years have been flat. This is a made up crisis.
There may have been more knife crime, but this is only because there are more knife laws. Someone carrying a compass (the kind you draw a circle with) may be accused of a violation. The UK is PC gone wild.

Between the UK's use of thousands of surveillance camera and ridiculous laws I'm surprised anyone can walk out of their homes in the morning without committing some ridiculous "crime". Someone should let parliament know that Orwell's 1984 was a warning not a how-to manual.

its a Police3 FFG, choil, Black G10, all the telltale signs

The Police3 has a choil and the knife in the poster does not. They look nothing alike...

First guns and now knives. Seems to me that weapons weren't the source and solution to the original problem.

Cars are 4,000 pound, 150 mph weapons... and there are millions of them in the U.K. Their next ad campaign should be "Help us get cars off our streets."

ahhh, but some of the figures currently quoted in the press also include injuries caused by other cutting/stabbing weapons. like bottles, and screwdrivers. which makes the problem look even bigger.

about the only thing that has changed is that the people carrying knives are apparenlty getting younger (hang on, wern't switchblades banned in the 60's/70's due to the "teddy boys", a teen gang at the time?) and it's now tending towards what most people see as gang related (ie, linked to other crimes), rather than the older headline grabbing cause of violence....football matches.

and of course, they've futher restrited guns, as if any of the guns used in crime where legal before......(excluding maybe the occasional farmer having the misfortune to shoot someone breaking in/tresspassing)

So they keep treating the symptom's (knife violence) and not the causes (why young peoples are so violent) Heck. After knives and guns they might ban rocks and stones. If man wants to kill someone he will do that with or without knife.

You can kill man with bare hands, what will you do then? Ban hands? Take care of problems i.e. why young peoples are so violent in the society first place. That will solve problem. Banning tools won't. But I guess its easier to blaim knives and other tools than admit society might have a deeper problem.

In Finland after two school shootings we're having similar thing with firearms and I am affraid it will soon spread into the knives.
