I have never been a Spyderco fan but I have been looking at their folders lately and I think I am kinda getting a little interested (much to my wife's dismay...I have issues resisting buying knives...which has made for long uncomfortable conversations). Anyways, I was looking at the Spyderco Military Titanium ~ C36TI for about $350'ish and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this knife?? The only knives that I can compare it to are some of the knives that I have owned:

- Microtech Amphibian
- Microtech Lightfoot
- R.A.T. folder (I forget the model as I gave it away a while ago)
- Large Sebenza

Any help would be appreciated!

For 350 buy a sebenza

Edit: oops I didn't see you already had one .... 350 is way too much for a Millie though !!!

Really?? Too much money?? It says $350 on the Spyderco website...I don't mind buying things on ebay but knives I am very particular and usually only buy directly from dealers. What is a reasonable price for a Millie IYO?

Is it $350 from spyderco directly? Knifecenter and knivesplus both have it for a lot less. Not sure if it is shipping or customs that may add to the cost.

In any case, I wouldn't buy it if it were me. Maybe if I had a military that I loved and I also had some titanium knives that I loved, then it might be a yes. For the price I probably would go with the sebenza or a regular military and another knife or two.

Edit: Just saw your post. Ordering from spyderco directly works, though unless the knife is hard to find I probably wouldn't order from them lol.

I don't have any experiance with it, but $350 is just MSRP. You can find this knife online for about $220.

it's not as low as the Stateside price....but you'll have it in 3 days and won't have to pay duty. And Jay is a great guy to deal with!

Your welcome.

Don't think for a moment that it's just Spyderco that does this -- pretty much all Manufacturers charge full MSRP when selling directly to consumers (because they don't want to be in direct competition with their authorized dealers).

^As mentioned above.

I would not recommend the Ti Military for a number of reasons:

-The Military is built around light weight and ease of carry, functionality in all weathers. Ti handles are noticeably more slick than G10 especially when wet, and it takes away the defining feature of the Mili-the breathtaking blade length to weight ratio. The Sebenza is a better example of a Ti frame lock, and the G10 Mili, a better example of a Spyderco, IMO.

For 350, I'd much rather recommend getting a G10/Ti/M4 Mili second-hand-the steel is a cut above S30V and you get a G10 slab. For about 220, get a G10 Mili and some custom scales (or a nice family lunch)

The "Military experience" IMO is best with the simple G10 version.

Spyderco is my favorite knife company! So many option to choose from is what draws me in I think, not to mention the pure quality of the build. It just so happens that my favorite model is the millie, I have almost every flavor of millie produced. It's a large blade, so if your not used to it, it'll take a few days. It really is great for any task. The Ti millie is a heavy knife though, so if weight would be an issue, I would go with the regular G10 one, or if you can find one the M4/G10/Ti model. Good luck! I can honestly say, without knowing you whatsoever, you will love the Military.

I would just save up a little more and go with a Lionsteel SR-1. Or if you're feeling lucky, you can try to find a G10/Ti Military in M4.

To be honest, if you already have a Sebenza, every other knife in titanium and S30V might fall far short in comparison.

I have the Ti Military and the Lionsteel SR-1, Sebenzas too and they are all entirely different knives. You really need all three!:D
