I took a page out of CharlieMike's book. I tried my hand at a wave mod. I don't think it turned out to bad for a first timer. This thing waves just as good if not better than any waved knife I've ever handled and I've owned alot of waved Spydie Delicas, Enduras, PKal and Emersons. Any way just wanted to share. Oh and I put a wire clip on it as well..

I would smooth out the rough squareness of the wave, but hey its functional and that's all that counts.

The edges of the wave are fairly smooth and rounded, the wave isn't sharp at all. If I had a belt grinder I could have done alittle better, all I have was a thick disk.

Very cool. I've been thinking about doing that to my Pacific Salt since it doesn't get much use (so if I mess it up it won't be a big deal).

Does that work as a bottle opener, too? It looks like it would :P

I haven't tried to open a bottle yet.. I will get back with you on that this weekend..:D

It look well done, but you shouldn't break the hole of a spyderco it weakens the blade.

Not bad for your first try. Mine were much uglier!

That's for sure!

There he is! I knew the king of waving couldnt resist a thread like this ;)

CM is right it does look better :D ;)

I would take the advice above mentioned and smooth out the wave and make it less square. Less likely to rough up the jeans that way.

Does the conrner of the wave hurt your thumb to open it the conventional way? Also, does it tend to catch on your pocket?

Not too bad but I just "poor man's wave" it with a zip tie- no metal missed, can get same color as scales and much easier. My opinion only.

No the wave isn't sharp at all despite how it may look in the pics. It catches the pocket everytime if I want it to, if I just want to take it out without opening it, I just turn the knife inward and pull it out to prevent the wave from catching, just like any waved knife. I would clean it up alittle better if I had a belt grinder, something thin enough to get in there good without hurting things I don't want hurt. I've used a hand file since these pics were taken and have smoothed alittle better... Thanks for all the comments..

This blade edge was already modded when I got it, it was fully serrated from the factory, the forums member I got it from had it professionally converted to plain edge, so I really didn't have much to loose, I think I made it better, at least for me..:)

That is interesting about the conversion from SE to PE, followed by home-waving.

I have a SE Pacific Salt and am considering waving it, but not by cutting the hole open (that sounds odd, doesn't it?). Instead I plan to remove some spine and leave a hook in front of the hole, similar to the factory waved Enduras.

When I get around to it I will post photos.
