Spyderco Slysz Bowie Lock Face Question

Just got a Spyderco Slysz Bowie in and had a question to anyone who has one. When unlocking the knife, the lockbar feel very gritty, as if it is grinding against the tang of the knife. And upon closer look at the lock bar surface, it has an orange-red tinge all around it except where it seems to have been worn of the actual locking engagement area. I'm guessing the color is from the carburizing process?

Does any else have a problem with a grinding lock bar?
