Edge retention, toughness, heat treat...Does anyone have some of aus 10 knives from cs,I bet they perform very well, and how do they compare against spydercos vg10?

I don't have facts but I have experience with both and I'll tell you vg-10 performs better and is easier to sharpen most of the time except if you do lots of very fast cuts through a lot of cardboard (which I'm think is will be the same with paper too). I had to break down fridge and washer machine boxes, so you cut through long long segments. I found I would get messed up or dull vg-10 on my Karahawk quicker. Otherwise just using the Espada and Ulize I think the Ulize kept a nice edge longer when I EDC'd it, but not nothing major like when I broke down long strips of boxes quickly. All of my knives are 30 with a 40 micro bezel

If you get similar geometry and bte thickness I would like to think VG-10 would do better but specs don’t translate to real world use sometimes.

A couple years ago I was alternating between a medium Voyager clip point in aus-8 and a Delica in VG-10 because I thought they were kind of similar and they both were great knives for their size.
I never did any cut tests but they both performed pretty closely in terms of how often I had to freshen up the edge and I am a carpenter so they didn’t get babied at all.

Really questions like this have no definite answers because of so many variables.
I have yet to try aus-10 but I am sure a well treated knife in it would perform great.
In my experience VG-10 is a very good steel and I would take a well treated knife in either of these steels over a super steel such as 3v heat treated to 55-56.

I googled some results on youtube and aus 10 from cs performs better with their ht,nevertheless i love spydercos too. They should make vg10 little harder but its ok.vg10 is excellent steel btw.

I love vg10,but few knives from spyderco in it are somewhat soft for that but still love the design. On the other hand I find cold steels heat treat very good on all steels, their aus8 is very good and performs same as spyderco vg10.Seems hard to believe, but thats my experience.I love 154cm from benchmade too, holds razor edge for decent amount of time.Am not surprised that aus10 performed better on tests that ive seen on youtube.

Yeah BM does s30v better than everyone else too. Maybe that's why 90% of their knives were in it for a long ass time.

154cm,d2 and s30v from benchmade are pretty good for any task.I liked their 440c too,and am going to try m4.In my book, cold steel has better heat treat than most mass produced knives.

Based on my experience with cold steels aus10 Voyagers and Spyderco vg10 endura and street bowie, I’d estimate that the cold steels were of higher hardness. Neither have stained easily even when carried in the rain.
