Hey everyone:

My local shop has a couple of knives I’m interested in. They have a Yojimbo 2 in S30V and a Para 3 in Maxamet. The Yojimbo is $40 cheaper. I already have a Manix 2 LW in Maxamet that I love. I’m having a difficult time deciding which knife to purchase of the two mentioned above. What are your thoughts?

Without really going into my thoughts on the knives themselves (I have owned variations of both) here is what I would do if I have never owned either. I would buy the Para 3 because it will have a much higher resale value than the Yojimbo 2. If I love the 3 then great, but if I don't, I would sell it here (or elsewhere) and get "most" of my money back and then buy the Yojimbo used here and have a some cash left over. Just don't abuse it before you decide if its a keeper or not.

I don't think this the type of answer you were looking for but having owned both knives and having sold both knives because I am not a big fan of either, I don't think my opinion of which is better would provide much value to you. Both are nice knives, just not for me and I'm sure someone much wiser can give you better advice than I.

Good luck!

Get the one that feels best for you, if you can handle it.
I'm a big fan if the PM3, but I've been looking at the Yo for a long time.

Thanks! I appreciate your input. Truth be told, I will probably end up buying both, but my instinct tells me to snatch up that maxamet first. Again, thank you.

Also, for your information, I handled both knives at the shop and I have to say, the action on the Yojimbo is amazing. That is one solid knife. I’d get it if I were you.

I have the Maxamet Para 3 it’s pure awesomeness no regrets buying it. Love the dark gray scales, the blade came insane sharp and it seems to be holding edge really well just from everyday cutting task I’ve used it for so far. Also the action is so silky smoothhhhhhhhhhhh best out of the box I’ve received this year. I Wish I had two of them :)

Awesome! I can’t wait to get mine. This Thursday I will be a proud owner. I’m also thinking of getting titanium scales for it. Blue anodized with a deep carry pocket clip.

I’d definitely go for the Yojimbo2. Love the Wharncliffe blade and the handle ergos.

That's what I've been thinking. It's probably gonna happen sooner or later
