Stag handle Khrukri

Hi Santi -- that is a really gorgeous khukuri! Is this being made by the same maker who makes the custom E-Neps?

Am curious about the length of the handle. It looks long enough for the "American" hand. Of the few Nepalese/Indian khukuris I've seen, the handles are kind of short. Like only 4". This stag handle is not only beautiful, but also decent-sized in appearance.

Is this a knife being made for you? Would sure appreciate more info. E-mail is fine if posting is a hassle.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave:- Same message as I replied in KnifeForums. . .

The knife is not mine. :( Surely, I want it badly!
I took a shot at the maker's premise. The blade lenght is 10-11" I guess, with all stainless hardware. Forget to ask about the blade steel, but I'm sure it is either 440C or ATS-34. IIRC he sold it around 220US$. Kind of 180$ goes for the knife and 40$ goes for the scabbard, which used the Thai hardwood called Ching-Chang. (The same configuration as the scabbard of my custom E-Nep; pic in my signature link.)

Though, as it's 100% handmade, I think it's highly reasonably price, I could not afford it at this moment. I'm going to deliver the new boy VERY SOON, probably within a night or two.

But YES! After clearing up all bills. I guess I'm going to order one. And, normally the waiting time is about 2-3 weeks.

Hope this help. :D

Almost forget about the handle; it's genuine stag which all rough spot being rubbed off. It's very smooth. About 5-6" . . .more than enough for the secure grip. The diameter is 1" approx, from what I "feel."
And yes, it's the same maker who did my custom E-NEp. :)

Believe it or not, there are a few HI khukuris scattered around the US that have ching-chang handles. My Thai pal, Kit, from Bangkok sent a few blocks of the wood to BirGorkha where it was used for handling a few khukuris.
