What is the standard issue knife for british armed forces.....what is the canadian issue knife? anyone know? thanks/

Grohmann #3 CAF Knife apparently for Canada, found that buried pretty deep in an obscure wiki article.

hmm...wiki is so useless somtimes..I hate how its so hard to get info on the canadian military.

The Grohmann #3 is issued only for certain trades, so it's not really "standard" issue. Also, I'm not sure Grohmann actually has the contract anymore -- DND gave the contract to a cheap knockoff the last time it came up for renewal, as I understand it.

The current standard issue knife is a Gerber multi-tool. Also, of course, a bayonet.

the only knife that could be considered "standard issue" in the UK armed forces is the standard issue bayonet. which by all acounts works great as a pointy bit of metal on the end of you'r gat, but is useless everywhere else.

some units do have a knife that every soldier is issued with. the gurka units have kukri's and the royal marines commando's have the commando dagger (I think this is issued to anyone who has passed the all-arms commando course, which is open to all millitary personell) the kukri is commonly carried by soldiers on the ground, but the commando dagger is really a ceremonial peice, retained because of tradition more than utility.

there is the "british army clasp knife" such as here but apparently this is now almost unseen through the millitary system, I understand that it was a far more common issue in the old days.
the army does issue leathermans to those who need them (the core is the model currently available through the system)

but if you'r looking for something like the Swiss (or, IRRC the dutch) where every soldier is issued a pocket knife as part of thier basic kit, I'm afraid it doesn't work like that over here.

I've heard this knife is used allot by the brits but i cant say for sure.

all i can say for sure is its made in the UK by a company called Web-Tex and i think you can get one as a trophy for being #1 in a training course.

Bit of an old topic, but what Zaner said is right. The grohmann was the CF 'Jump' knife, but the contract has indeed been switched to a company which produces a cheap knockoff. The Gerber is standard issue across the board, and the bayonet is made by Eickhorn in Germany.
