I wondered how long the glow in the "Stay Glow" SAKs would last, so I asked around.

Question: "What's the life expectancy on the Victorinox Stay Glow handles?"

Reasoning: I know that they recharge when exposed to light, but don't they lose a tiny bit of "life" every time they're used?

Likely Answer: My friend's wife (a chemist) said that things like these fluorescent handles will run out, but without knowing the exact chemical make-up, there's no telling when. After telling me about fluorescent things and glow-sticks, she gave me an estimated life of 7 to 8 years of continued use until the Stay Glow no longer glows.

If they use similar compound or mix it with the material making the watch's glow in the dark, it should last longer. My Seiko still glow after exposure to sunlight, bought it in 1993 till today.

they dont lose a tiny bit of life after each use-they continually deteriorate

i dont know what the half like is -some vary -some recent watch faces last about 5-8 years-others shorter-i have noticed no dimming in the stay glo in the past 3 years at all
