Is there a chart or other resource that will give characteristics of different knife steels? I am especially interested in stainless options, as I am making an oven currently. I can't find anything like this in the stickies. Also, a heat treating chart or spreadsheet would be super helpful. I'm just looking for comparable information and reference in a concise format. Thanks in advance.
 
The best I've found is Knife Steel Comparison app on my phone. It has just about every steel you could imagine, but unfortunately doesn't include HT info.

Try an app called Heat Treaters Guide Companion put out by ASM. I just downloaded the android version and did a quick search for 1084. The app came back with chemical composition, specifications, characteristics and applications, forging parameters, and heat treating info...oh, and processing sequence! Damn! This looks like an awesome app!
 
I have that ASM app. It doesn't detail characteristics really, and some of the HT info seems to conflict with what I have seen on this board.
 
I guess its meant as a supplement to the textbook which goes for nearly 300 bucks. Thank goodness for this forum.
 
If you just want comparative information about different steels get the free ZKnives app for your phone.
