Steel Will Cutjack od green in D2 steel
This week I received my first Steel Will knife and I must say that I'm impressed. I bought the D2 steel FRN version of the Cutjack. There also is a M390 version with G10 scales which is made in Italy.
The overall lenght of the knife is 20.6 cm, the blade is 8.6 cm and the handle is 11.9 cm. The weight is 105 grams due to milled out liners. Pretty light for its size! The handle is made of FRN with nested liners. It really feels comfortable in the hand with no hotspots. The backspacer is also made of FRN with an contrasting color in black. The clip is reversible tip up only which I like. The knife rides fairly deep in the pocket so it is not really noticeable.
The lock is an linerlock with a ok detent. You cant shake the blade into a open position. The blade opens with a flipper tab which works really well! This thing flips almost like my ZT 0562cf on ballbearings. It is really smooth out of the box. I polished the fosfor bronze washers and it flips even better now!
The centering of the blade is perfect with no altering after use.
The blade stop is kind of weird. As seen in the pictures the liner is milled out where the blade stop rides which is pressed into the blade. Normally it is the other way around. With a D2 blade there is not much you can do wrong. It is easy to touch up and it holds a edge reasonably well. Ow and it came pretty sharp out of the box! I had no issues with rust after using it in the garden cutting some plants. The drop point blade has a finger choil for the finer work. Actually this choil works. Sometimes I find the choils is to small and it cuts in your finger when using it.
All in all I am really impressed with the quality of this knife. I paid in the Netherlands €45.- for it which it is defenately worth!
Also the box looks nice this a little certificate with the date stamped on.
I am really looking forward buying the next Steel Will knife. I think it is called the F25 its a prototype right know. Sheepsfoot and carbon fiber is what I know at the moment.
Here are the pictures!
Check out how the blade stop works with the pressed fit stop pin in the blade.
