Steep Country - Replace Grip

Digging the Steep Country specs and gets good reviews for a hunting blade, but wish could swap out the rubber/synthetic grips for something more solid (G10/Micarta/etc) that I could take on/off to clean.
I have the ability to make scales but was wondering if anyone knows what's under the rubber grips? Are there holes where bolts/pins could go through?

...and it appears that the tang has two holes up front that the handle covers and one in back that it does not.

I plan to do a mortise tang on mine when the grip wears through. Walnut sides, orange g10 in the center. The rubber grip is surprisingly durable though.
