so i was on youtube and i found out you can do a stonewash finish yourself and it seems fairly easy. i think im gonna try with my persistence
any for anyone who hasnt saw the videos you should look them up and check it out.
bassically all you do is take the knife put it in a container with a lid stick a few smooth rocks in there and spray some wd40 and wrap it up with some towel and put it on tumble dry in the dryer
i take no credit for this idea but i though id share it with everyone because the resualt was amazing

I also did this and it came out great! except I did it a little different, I put some broken tempered glass in with the stones. By doing this it got down in the sharp corners that I saw were getting missed in some of the other videos. Plus it gave it a little different pattern in the stonewashing. Here's the video I did http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrZUi2cV5XI

Flraptor07, just checked out your vid- that's awesome. I'm going to have a go at it when I receive my just ordered, CRKT Folding Razel.

Thanx, You have to tumble it for about 2hrs. I was amazed how well it worked, also you have to resharpen because it wrecks the edge pretty good LOL

I've tried it today. I used random round stones that I've collected in the near by park, fine machine oil, plastic container and shook for... 1 hour. The result was great, sort of a Ti look. Finished with some polishing paste. I tried it on some stailes steel jewelry. I'll try it again just not at home. I live in a flat and that process is noisy... I risk to be beaten by my neighbours

Here is one I did. Just the Ti slabs.

Finished stonewashing my just received CRKT Razel, blade and clip. Took some good info from different DIY stonewash vids and did it this way:

1. Placed blade and clip into empty multi-vitamin bottle.
2. Placed small, rounded aquarium gravel.
3. Added Boeshield T-9 (squirt bottle version so that its non flammable- will make sense later), for lubrication.
4. Wrapped in towel and package placed in compressible water proof sack.
5. Dumped the unit into the washing machine, along with dirty laundry.
6. Then transferred to dryer. Since dryer had no tumble dry only setting, had to use heat, hence the choice of non-flammable lube.

Of course, one could just skip a step and use the dryer, but why not kill two birds with one stone. So about a total of 1hr and 15min tumbled around. By the way, that is not the stock scales- just modded that as well.

Satisfied with process and results, would definitely try again. Compared the finish to stonewash Seb and pretty darn close, but not close to XM-18 finish. Would try to add some crushed stones or as adviced by Flraptor07,tempered glass next time; to get to the corners- for example: around the thumb-studs.
