I recently sent a stock Buck/Mayo Waimea to Steve and what I got back is truly a work of art. The entire look and feel of the knife has been transformed into what I now consider an almost perfect EDC.
1) The top horn was removed making the lines of the knife much more fluid.
2) The factory square handle edges are now beveled all the way around and the difference in feel is amazing.
3) Every single hole on both sides of the handles are now chamfered and it gives the knife a very classy look.
4) Last but not least the titanium handles were re-anodized a beautiful blue/gray and I am totally blown away by the color!
I sent the knife in on a Monday and it was back to me five days later. Can't beat that turnaround with a stick! This is first class work and I couldn't be happier. Thanks Steve!

Thanks.

Removing the horn on the top of the folder really makes it more comfortable to me in the hand and can really improve the choke up on the blade for some push cutting using the thumb compared to before it was removed. The color is nice and all but really the horn removal is the most noticed and appreciated mod to my hands and really I think it looks better too personally and not just due to the blue color.

I like those models a lot from Buck. Tom designed a great folder there but I just think that top horn needs to be taken out of the design. Some agree with that as that one is not the first one sent to me with that request. I found it rather unusual that they didn't bevel all the holes drilled into the handle. Some were done, some were skipped and the lanyard was not done at all. All I really did there was use an 82` counter sink and set my stop on my drill press to put them all the same depth. Then I enlarged the bevel all around the folder and went around the edges inside as well. Once all that was done bead blasting it went pretty well after removing the detent ball temporarily.

You lucked out in the way the clip matched the color of the body based on my past experiences anodizing clips of titanium on the folders they were used on. I often times wonder if the clips on some models are the same grade of titanium as the rest of the parts because sometimes they are noticeably different shades but yours matched up quite well.

Anyway, thanks for the pics. They always look so nice when they are taken by someone else. :D

Thanks guys. If I had thought to do it before it left I could have jeweled the insides nicely. That would set that little gents knife off but I didn't remember that I finally got some cratex until it left. I've had it on back order for a while now. Forgot it came with some other stuff I had been waiting on.
