straight razors

I've got a couple of questions about straight razors; to preface I am new to straight razors, I don't have much experience shaving with them, and absolutely no experience making them. So to start off with, which one of these grinds would you guys recommend? which one would be easiest on a 2.5" or 5" wheel? I'm liking the half or quarter hollow.

and then there is this

but these differences look mostly aesthetic in nature.

Also My stock is 5/32" thick, and pretty wide, is this ok? how wide should the blade be for this thickness?

And are there any tips on getting the super thin hollow grind even and smooth?
Anything else I should know? I've never done this before, and you guys haven't failed me yet so I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance.

Half or quarter will be your best bet, but don't be afraid to try a near wedge. You stock thickness will dictate your blade width (height). I forget the ratio, but you should find it easily. They are honed and stropped by laying the spine along the stone/strop to set the angle. Spike, square, round and french are all common points. I would focus on a shoulderless rather than trying to get two or three plunge lines, which are often forged in with dies on modern razors. Try for a straight or slight smile edge. Don't forget that the tail (tang) is also tapered.

I am tempted to try a near wedge blade with using only a sen for shaping. Straightrazorplace will have tons of info.

2 of the hardest grinds are wedge(i hate the term true wedge cause you really cant use them so jsut forget abut flat grinding a razor) and singing full hollow
best bet is a part hollow of some degree as you can make sure that the spine is even with the edge then jsut thin things out a bit more (also middle of the road so far as how it feels in use )

the goal is for your total edge angle to be 16-22 degrees less then 16 and the edge cant hold up and over 22 things get a bit odd too SS razors seem to liek a bit steeper angle and that woudl be from the carbide structure

Cool thanks guys SRP looks like it has everything I need ill definitely be spending some time there.
