Strange problem with seal pup

I have been using it for lot of years without bothering it much.
After the last fishing there was some rust on the cutting edge, sharpened it and I got it off the sheath.
I haven't used a knife for a week. Last night I noticed a strange crack in the Blade.
My question is has anyone encountered such a thing and what would be the reason?
And sorry for my bad English.

Wow, that’s interesting. I’m no metallurgist but it appears to be a defect because the crack starts and ends on spots that also developed rust.
 
yeah, its probably faulty steel structure...
best write in to the manufacturer to address
the misfortune of it.
