first off this is my first post on BF so hi everyone.

ok ive been wondering what the difference between the sng and the smf is for awhile now. i even went to striders website and under product details there really isnt anything listed. the only difference i could find was that one was $75 more expensive. so i was hoping someone could explain to me what the difference between the two are since in pictures they look the same to me. thanks for the help

heres the deal, they say the smf is larger, but the blade is only .25 inches longer, its a little thicker, and the handle is a little longer. Overall its a small difference but it does make a difference if your looking for a larger knife, many people consider the sng to be a rather small knife.

not entirely accurate.

smf blade length, tip to scale: 4"
edge length: 3.25"
overall length: 9"

sng blade length, tip to scale: 3.5"
edge length: 3"
overall length: 8 1/8"

Yea, the finger choil on the SMF is also bigger. I wish they kept the choil the same size as the SnG and add that length to the edge.

The difference for me is that on a SnG I have to use the choil. On a smf I can use it or just grip the scales.

Here's how I remember it... Strider is kinda f-ed up... what with Mick's apparent misrepresentations and all...

SmF = Large (the M for Medium, except Strider is backwards)

SnG = N for large (Large NNNot quite, reverse... see above).

PT = the small one, the one you could wear while doing physical therapy or personal training

Tongue only slighty in cheek...

What? Are you serious?

SMF not Smg stands for Strider Military Folder and it's the bigger of the 2

SnG which is a secret for what it stands for ( and they want it kept like that ) is the smaller of the 2

now a SnG XL is the jumbo one

It's not really that big of a secret what SnG stands for. Most guys I talk to that are into knives know what it stands for.

Yea, not that big of a secret. But google won't turn up any results. It's kinda hard to find it online without just asking someone who knows

I wouldn't care if Mick Stryder married a dude in the service.

I just got one of his knives, love it, and plan on getting more.

I am not and don't and didn't :D but that is very cool.

It was supposed to be kept secret if you knew what it meant. Just some fun they were having, nothing serious.
