Hello!

I noticed that my BM 527's t6 torx which is attaching the stopping bolt was not fully screwed in, however when I tried to use my T6 torx it was slightly jammed, when I increased strength the bolt stripped.

Now how can I get that torx out now? Any suggestions would be great. I know I can get torx free from Benchmade but getting this one out before getting replacement in is way harder.

thanks a millions in beforehand.

Make sure you break the loctite withe a soldering iron or some form of heat.

Screw extractor is the way to go. Get the ones that resemble screwdriver bits rather than the one that needs you to drill out the screw...

Screw extractors sound way to go... except NOBODY has evn heard of them in here this town and even browsing few big nation wide hardware sellers: NOTHING... So, if anyone can link me a suitable place to buy screw driver bits for extractors and can ship 'em overseas, please e-mail me, PM me or visitor message me. I can't ask anyone them to buy them for me and ship 'em here.

Sears? That's where I got mine.

Closest sears is in the states I am affraid and I am pretty sure they won't deliver international orders :)

I was unaware of that, it surprises me. I then wonder what Harbor Freight's policy is. They are a BIG retail/internet hardware company.

I just checked: 1/8 - 1/4 extractor wasn't available for international shipping in Sears, too bad. Maybe I should contact a custom scales maker and ask if I send my knife for custom scales if they could remove the screw. After all, when you pry girvor plastic open and break it around screw, it would expose entire screw head for forced removal... And with custom scales you could break the grivory ones...

You might try a small flat blade screwdriver that will fit in the stripped out area.

If you look up the tool you want at http://www1.mscdirect.com:80/eComme...ty=1&rawInput=Screw+extractor¢Screw+extractor and get the part number, they ship international, but you will need to call to order. The number is: 001-248-200-4200

However, the very best way if you are not familiar with removing broken screws and bolts would be to find a local machine shop and offer to buy one of the guys a 6-pack of beer or a coffee and donut (depending on if it's morning or night) to help you out.

Also, not sure if the screw is raised or not but if it is you could use a dremel with a cutting disk to cut a notch in the top like a regular screw head. Let a little penetrating oil soak for a bit, then use a regular screwdriver to unscrew the stripped screw.

Try a small ball of epoxy, pressed into the stripped head, then press your torx driver into that and let it firm up. Remove the driver to let it harden completely, then just unscrew as usual. Just be sure to use a VERY SMALL bit of epoxy.

This works very well with Torx screws as the well is deeper than with Phillips or slotted screws.

I have the extractor you need. If you wish I can try and get it to ya. Should have enough life for a few more screw removals at least. My company let be "browse" the hardware store often enough.
