I have meat tested side by side several models of the Subcom, designed by Chad Los Banos...I thought some would be interested with the results.
In Meat test #1 I use a seamed eye round roast that measured 9 " long that was 6 " round, left in it's original packaging and wrapped with additional saran wrap, 4 layers, (to simulate the resistance of skin) and stuffed it inside a Denim Jeans Pant leg. A quick downward slash cut was made using the knives mentioned to measure the depth of the cut. In Meat Test #2 I thrusted into the roast with each knife and pulled forcefully downwards quickly until resistance was encountered. I measured the depth and lenght of the stab/cut. Then in the third test I made a Hard and Fast Horizontal slash across the belly of the roast and measured the depth of the cut. The results are as follows:
Subcom F PE 440J2 Ist Generation Test #1: Depth 1.0" Test#2: 1.5" Depth / 5" Lenght, Test # 3: .075" Depth
Subcom F PE AUS 8 Test #1: 1.25" Depth Test #2: 1.5" Depth / 6.5" Lenght Test#3: 1.25" Depth
Wharcom PE AUS 8 Test #1: 1.5" Depth Test #2: 1.5" Depth / 7.0" Lenght, Test #3: 1.25" Depth
Desert Tan CE AUS 8 Test #1: 1.0" Test #2: 1.5" Depth / 3.5" Lenght
Test #3: 1.0"
Subcom FB Fixed Blade 440C Test #1 2.5" Depth Test #2: 2.5 Depth/
9" Lenght, Test #3: 2.5" Depth
