I found some Turtle Wax polishing compound. would this work as a stropping agent?
How would it compare to green or white compound, Coarser of finer?

Thanks in advance.

Could work; I don't see why not. Try it out and see what happens!

I've made stropping compound from equal parts paste wax, light oil, and kitchen abrasive powder (Barkeeper's Friend, Ajax, Comet, BonAmi, etc.) I'm sure it's not very good compared to chromium oxide or diamond spray, but it works when it's all you have.

That's exactly what I use on my strop because I'm cheap/resourceful, whatever you want to call it. Seems to work for me.

Or you could just get some of the very best stuff in the world made just for sharpening knives on leather. It isn't expensive, it lasts a very long time, and you get the satisfaction of knowing that you are getting the best out of your equipment. Chef Knives To Go has it in the HandAmerican isle. They have exactly what you need and ship it immediately. Don't mess up your hone just because you can't wait a couple days.

Automotive polishing compound is not ideal for polishing edges.
I certainly wouldn't put it on a good piece of leather. Try it on a paint stir stick.
As a matter of fact-use all the compounds on paint sticks, and use the leather for stropping.

Call me obsessive about edges, but I don't take my knife to a strop unless I know the exact grit. It helps to let me know whether I'm moving forward or backward.
