I am thinking of picking one of these up. I know they are good but does anyone here have any personal experience with them?

I did do a search but wanted to know if their were any personal experiences out there.

Not personal experience, but the word on www.candlepowerforums.com is the voltage regulation circuit for the xenon bulb only works with fresh batteries -- as soon as the batteries lose a little voltage the bulb won't light at all, and you're limited to the leds until you put fresh batteries in. Until I found that out I thought it was the perfect EDC.... It could work in combination with another flashlight to use up the batteries in, but you'll be using batteries for only a very short time in the Aviator before you have to move them to the other flashlight.

I've had one for quite a while now and it IS the perfect light. The Xenon bulb lasts well over an hour, I've found out (not during constant use), but you don't want to keep it on 'high' for too long. Gets a bit warm in the hand.

It's nice when you hear a bump-in-the-night... Grab the 12 guage and the A2... LED's for getting around the house and once outside... Light up the whole block! :D

After the main bulb won't light... Drop the batts in the Inova X5T. Perfect combo.

I love it. got the one with the blue LEDs. Use it a lot. Yeah, you gotta keep replacing the batteries (once every couple of months in my case). Welcome to the wonderful world of hitech flashlights. :)

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the help.

So this is not the case in your experiences?

my aviator has been nothing but problems

i have received several new bulbs etc and the main light still will not work

i have been meaning to send it back for months

btw it is the only bum surefire i have had in the 10 or so i have owned

Check out the Streamlight Twin Task line. Same concept a lot less $$$. Granted the execution is not quite a slick and the lights are a bit larger. I love my one cel twin task.

Mine has performed flawlessly. Does suck when the batteries are low and the Xeon cuts off, but the LED is bright enough for most of my use until I replace the batteries. Mine came with a very special Strider, so it had extra appeal.

bought SFA2 8 months ago and still performing without a glitch. still have the original batteries on. love it, the most versatile torch i ever owned... replaced my G2 and E1E.

The A2's incan is regulated, 50 lumens for 50 minutes. After that it gets dim and you have to use the LED's only until you switch batteries. I EDC mine and wouldn't trade it for anything (except maybe a U2).
