I have recently started getting into Surefire flashlights. Usually I bought Fenix/4Sevens/Zebralight and have never been disappointed. However, the designs of some of the Surefire lights are just plain sexy.. So I gave them a try, even at a loss of output and increase in cost.

First was the M951 weapon light with a Malkoff M61w LED drop in module. I was impressed with the quality of the anodizing. It feels like a tank!

Then I recently picked up an A2 Aviator. It is the LED version with a 110 lumen output with red secondary LEDs. Its not near as bright as my other lights, but sometimes I feel we get too caught up in output. 110 lumens is more than serviceable unless you're searching a field. I really like it, although they are rather pricey.

I really like my EB-1 back up

Low 5 .0 lumens / 40.0 hours*
Tactical Runtime** 1 .3 hours

Batteries 1

Surefire is a major match sponsor for several major 3 Gun competitions....picked up this Scout Light from the prize table at Ft Benning 3 Gun Challenge... class act

I have a few too many Surefires, they are stashed all over the place.

Off the top of my head I have.....
5x 6P (most stock, one running a Nailbende module and 17670)
2x E1
KL3 head (on a 6p)
KL1 head (on an E1)
G2
U2 (old LuxV version with plastic spacer removed, running 18650)
L2 (15670)
A2
L4 (17670)
T1A
Minimus Vision
M3 (LF EO-M3 and 2x 17500)
M4 (LF EO-M3T and 2x 17670)
M6 (LF IMR-M3T and 2x18650 battery carrier)
C2 (malkoff M61 HiCri and 17670)
9P (bored for 18xxx cells and reanodised by oveready, 1000lumen dropin by moddoo)

Oh, and an EWP-01 pen ! I may be a little addicted

Where are the pictures!?!?!?!?

Might take me a while to dig them all up for a Photoshoot.

In the meantime, here's a few pics of some of them.

It's not a surefire, but I have two of these too, Maxabeams, shown here reaching out a bit over half a mile (manufacturer says it will reach out 2 miles, I believe them)

Surefire recently raised their prices something like 30%. I picked up a P3X Fury, and a spare EB1T before the increase.

Most Surefire lights are prohibitively expensive now.

... a loss of output and increase in cost.

Like you said about the Aviator, you really don't need more than 100 lumens. Actually, that's about the line where my night vision gets destroyed leaving me very limited after the light is put away. I carried an EB1T for a few months, but it was just too bright on high mode so I've been using an E1L lately.

Also, a 200 lumen Surefire can be far more powerful than most other manufacturers "500" lumen lights, as they horribly exaggerate their numbers while Surefire is conservative and accurate.

Loss of output? Keep in mind that many of these ridiculous claims by flashlight manufacturers are just that, ridiculous. It does sell lights to Americans who always think bigger is better
even if it isn't. ;)

I was basing that on actual experience with other lights. My Fenix, Zebralight, 4Sevens, and Sunwayman lights all outshine both my surefires by a wide margin. But I'm also using surefire lights that are 5+ years old.

I wouldn't trade the reliability and solid construction of Surefire for any other brand. Like someone mentioned, most other manufacturers grossly inflate their lumen claims.

I probably have 15+ Surefire lights, and a handful of Streamlights.

3 x 6px pros, 3 x X300 ultras, X400, shotgun fore end , P1r Peacekeeeper, LX2 Lumamax's , 3 x Surfire Minimus, Y300 plus others

The only other brand in my humble opinion that even comes close is Streamlight. I have had ZERO good experiences with Fenix, Four Sevens, Zebralight and other Chinese brands. Their build quality is questionable, like their like lumen claims only to be outdone by their piss poor warranty and ridiculous user interfaces and insane # of useless modes. I had a Four Sevens light that was replaced three times without anything other than light keychain duty within a 6 month timeframe, when they finally stated they would not replace it again and I should try another model LOL.

Surefire doesn't have the most innovative lights but they deliver on quality, reliability, usability and second to none warranty in the rare event it is needed.

Let's not turn this thread into a brand bashing thread. I haven't had any of the quality issues with those brand lights, but that's not what this thread is about. Feel free to post pictures or discuss the Surefire lights you have, but I can see this thread getting off track quickly otherwise.

I had a few SF. Most bored out to accept 18650 batteries.

Son, I'm going to tell you the solid truth about Surefire lights right now.

Surefire, is hands down the best flashlight manufacturer in the world. No other company or even custom light maker can make a flashlight as tough and reliable as a Surefire. Surefire may not be the leader in LED technology regarding output and runtime. However Surefire can make a flashlight that would easily survive the apocalypse 100 times and then keep asking for more.

Seriously, you can bury a Surefire flashlight and come back several years later, put a fresh set of batteries and it would still function like it did the day you buried it. If I were ever in a scenario where my life depended on a flashlight, surefire would be the brand I would proudly trust with my life.
